FSU sports information:
The Florida State indoor track and field teams are set to open the 2025 indoor slate at the Clemson Invitational on Saturday. The first event is the men’s shot put at noon.
Live stream will be available.
FSU returns 11 key student-athletes including five that earned All-ACC honors at the 2024 ACC Indoor Championships.
Matt Kane begins his first season at the helm along with four new assistant coaches.
"Truly excited to kick off the new year with a trip to Clemson,” said FSU head coach Matt Kane. “I think we have an opportunity to establish our identity as a program and I expect some good things to happen this opening weekend. Quite a few athletes will be entering their competitive events, and a few others are knocking off the rust in preparation for later competition so it will be a good mixture.”
“A few athletes have stood out in the training, and I am interested to see how their development takes shape in competition,” Kane added. “In the sprints Andre Korbmacher has look great in recent training and came off a U20 World Championships Silver medal to end his summer. Neo Mosebi has had a good fall as well, so he should be one to watch.”
“Tyra Wilson will be competing in the 300-meter which is a bit of an off event, but she has looked great so far,” added Kane. “All-American Shenese Walker is opening in the 60-meter, and I can’t leave out Micahi Danzy. It’s been a while since we have had a guy from football, and we expect him to have an impact helping our 4x400 relay. The distance crew is coming off a great cross country season and they will be running a variety of events. I’m excited to see them get started with their primary events soon like Suus Altorf, Bieke Schipperen, Beth Barlow and Kaden Levings.”
“In the field, I couldn’t be more excited about the upcoming season,” added Kane. “I have seen lots of growth and expect good development. Kyvon and Kayla bring a ton of experience to our jumps group, and they are competing in the triple jump this weekend. All in all, we are looking to set the tone for the season to come and look forward to getting into some good competition.”
