Golf FSU golfers wrap up play at South Beach International Amateur

Florida State men's golf student-athletes Patrick McCann, Carson Brewer and Michael Mays competed at the 2024 South Beach International Amateur that ran from Dec. 19-22.

Mays led the Seminoles, making the cut and finishing 36th at 5-under par. Mays shot 66 to open the tournament on Thursday at the at the Normandy Shores Golf Course and on Friday shot 67 at the Miami Beach Golf Club. He tallied 72 and 73 over the weekend at the Miami Beach Golf Club to finish with a total of 278.

Brewer finished the tournament at 2-over par after rounds of 74 and 69. McCann had round of 74 and 71 and finished at 4-over par.

Kjettrup Signs with Cleeks


Florida State alum Frederick Kjettrup signed with Cleeks Golf Club, one of the 13 teams in LIV Golf.

Kjettrup turned pro in 2024 following an eighth-place finish in the PGA Tour University rankings. He earned a conditional exemption to the Korn Ferry Tour and full exemption to PGA TOUR Americas. In just eight events played, Kjettrup managed to capture three titles at the Beachlands Victoria Open, ATB Classic, and CRMC Championship.

“Frederik is one of the brightest young talents in the game,” said Cleeks GC Captain, Martin Kaymer. “His impressive track record and fearless approach make him a perfect fit for our team. I’m looking forward to seeing him thrive within the competitive atmosphere of LIV Golf.”

The LIV Golf season starts Feb. 6-8 at the LIV Golf Riyadh.
