We are not committed to our brand and to expanding the brand. We are not committed to implementing cutting edge ideas to move Florida State University forward and ahead of other large state schools. Why aren't we aggressive pushing our brand and stature as a University around the state and country?

I would love to see @Dot Com @CoreyClark @iraschoffel @AslanH cover this issue more because it does have a direct affect on athletics. I get you don't want to bite the hand that feeds you but it's the elephant in the room that everyone is hesitant to address.

Is Florida State University properly ran with the right professionals in power to advance our position and brand within that state and around the country?

For example?

I don’t understand. How is the brand not being expanded? Like most schools, FSU is important within its own region and nationally recognized. The football team has suffered through three terrible seasons and, as the cash cow that drives the athletic department, that lack of notoriety hurts tremendously; however, it’s nothing that a few winning seasons won’t correct. The university is a newly minted addition to the top twenty of public universities and it will more than likely be a top fifteen institution soon. That signifies a national brand. A few ten win seasons and an appearance or two in important bowl games - New Year’s Six games OR the playoffs - and FSU is back where it has always been - one of the most notable universities in the country.

The Bowden era of winning with less spoiled us. Then Eric Barron was all about academics and hired Wilcox who was an ACC Tobacco Road guy who cared mainly about other sports not football. That combined with Jimbo’s personal issues left football rudderless and here we are.

The amount of free advertising that comes with top sports within our program is invaluable.

If we promote our top 20 academic institution as well as get our Football, Basketball, and baseball back to the top we will have invaluable advertising.

We have clearly shown we are committed to academics and making our football program great again. Baseball has shown it doesn’t care to go big time with the hiring or nepetunism Jr.. basketball is slowly gaining credibility under Ham.

What is Florida State University proactively doing to push this fact to High School guidance counselors and parents? We can't just assume they all keep up with Florida State (majority don't). Our reputation to people who don't follow FSU is assuming it's still a party school with average academics. UF on the other hand aggressively pushes "Gator Nation" "Harvard of South" "Flagship" and people believe it because it's all they hear in Florida.

Ideas and initiatives to push the brand need to make it outside of Leon County.

It’s the little brother mentality of our fans.

people constantly saying
-we aren’t committed
-we don’t have money
-we are falling behind
-we can’t pay coaches

none of that is true but people continually say it over and over again. Even if any of it was slightly true, it’s not worth repeating or spouting off.

Have some confidence, be proud, don’t talk negatively.

We have a lot more money than people give us credit for but why don't we see Florida State marketing itself throughout that state. We are now a Top 20 Public University this should be shared throughout state as obnoxiously as UF spouts off being so academically superior. We finally have the muscle. Flex it!

Little Jimbo trashing Florida State University all over the media didn’t help!

.
If you read President Thrasher’s comments and follow the time line on the FOF, any reasonable person can easily understand why Jimbo bolted. It was obvious and continues to be so, the FSU leadership does not understand the requirements and necessities to be among the elite programs.

I occasionally work with one of my professors (1981) He told me recently our Insurance risk management, real estate and hospitality programs are all ranked in the top 10 nationally and well recognized. So we have that!

And it should be advertised consistently all throughout the state and country.

You think we are committed? Doesn’t really seem that way and I get criticized for being to much of a kool aid drinker. We have one of the best brands in college sports but we allowed Clemson to pass us and UF to catch up. That’s a fact

I say that and I am stoked about our top 20 ranking in academics and I love watching the success of the other sports. I just think there is no reason we shouldn’t be leading Clemson and Bama in support of our football program. Winningest program of the last 30 years and all

That's crap. If they didnt care about the brand they wouldn't have FIRED A COACH A YEAR AND A HALF INTO A 6 YEAR CONTRACT who they felt was destroying the brand. Think about that its unheard of someone getting fired like that. They care or Taggart would still be here.

I am a public high school teacher in Florida. Believe me, the brand is just fine. They are setting records for admissions and that is one of the reasons why the university is moving up the ranks so fast. FSU is admitting very capable students, and on my campus, FSU’s popularity is rivaled only by UF, but it is very close. Most kids actually prefer Tally over Gville, but UF has a higher ranking - top 8.

If you had done some research on your alleged thesis it may have been more thought provoking. All I have is anecdotal evidence that many of our schools like music, meteorology, accounting, performing arts, and hospitality are highly thought of.

It’s ok... at Texas A/M the saying goes... more money than sense!!!

The next step is moving up into the top 50 overall for all universities. FSU is currently at #57. Given yet again another record year for applications and the entrance requirements getting ever more stingy, FSU is heading quickly to that goal.

I love football but I like even more that FSU grads are holding a very well regarded diploma.

He bolted for $75,000,000 and to get away from a nasty, hurtful and embarrassing situation.

I wish people would stop acting like FSU wasn’t committed to giving Jimbo what he needed to be successful....

When he was here FSU had somewhere between the #12 and #15 top facilities in the nation and we’re raising funds for the stand alone football facility.

Jimbo lost five games already this year with one to go with some of the best facilities in the country.

If Norvell can start winning everything will take care of itself....

I honestly have no clue where you’re getting this from. It’s rather naive to think the university doesn’t push every selling point to in-state high schools and in the neighboring region. High schools also seek actively seek this info so that they can give their students every resource for attending in-state universities, particularly in Florida. FSU is setting new records for applicants every year. Every recruit who visits FSU speaks about the academic opportunities.

With all due respect, your entire argument seems based on sample bias of what random people with no college degree say on Twitter.
