FSU HOFer swipes jacket at GS Warriors practice

Well...yeah...but at least he didn’t push black students off the stage during graduation!

If they had any cultural sensitivity at all they would’ve enlisted the Sandman to get them sorry acts off stage.

FFS, don't you clowns already have a thread on "pushing black students off the stage at graduation"? What's wrong, not getting the necessary amount of support on that thread?
1. Wow. Someone's got a case of the Mondays.
2. Try to keep up with the threads that are alive on the board and which ones aren't before you launch a totally unnecessary tirade.

Shumann played at Leon High during a long time run by Coach Gene Cox. His team stymied my Godby Cougars for a number of years before we broke thru for a state title a few years after he moved on to FSU.
He and Kurt Unglaub caught passes from Wally Woodham and Jimmy Jordan at Leon as well as FSU during Bowden’s early years.
Shumann was quite a character who missed one season, partially due to recovering from injuries suffered while jumping into Big Dismal Sink.

How times have changed. When Leon plays Godby nowadays the big question is whether or not it will be over by halftime.

I live away from Tally now, but figure that zoning was a big part of the change. Lincoln was just opened in my last year or two of HS, and now Chiles is there as well. Those two have pulled lots of the north side kids.
Prior to that Leon, and Cox in particular during his years, had their pick of talent and the alumni backing that Rickards and Godby lacked. His teams were fed by kids who came up thru better funded feeder schools, while the south side schools relied more on raw talent.
As you say, times have changed. There hasn’t been a Leon kid playing football at FSU in a long time to my knowledge, but honestly, not many local kids at all sign up for the Garnet and Gold any more. That is a shame, since there is still a deep talent pool. Many Coach Willie T will change that dynamic.

Mike's father was one of the early executives with Killearn Properties back in the 70's, which was my first employer after earning my real estate license.
I don't know Mike, but I'm sure those in Tally who remember him are shaking their heads.

Tamarick Vanover is the last one I am aware of from the early 90s. That would have been before Chiles so surely there is someone after Vanover.

Tallahassee Lincoln is where it's at (and where it's been at for the last ~20 years) in local HS football here.

I knew they'd produced a lot of talent, but a quick Wiki search shows the following: Kevin Carter, Antonio Cromartie, Zach Piller, Boo Williams, PJ Alexander, Craphonso Thorpe, Pat Watkins, Padric Scott, Jawanza Starling, B. J. Daniels and Omari Hand have represented the Trojans in the National Football League.

Pretty impressive.

I suppose that would depend on how “where it’s at” is defined.
Guys in the league, probably.
State championships, probably not.

I do believe that my daughters' school (Wakulla) has held its own in recent years as far as producing prospects.

They have won 3 and played for 5 in the last 19 years. That’s pretty great too if you ask me.

I don’t follow city football closely. Are they no longer that good?

Godby & Lincoln for the most part still rule the roost in their classification. Chile’s has eroded Lincoln’s territory some.
Wakulla is usually quite good and Rickards as well as NFC.
Along with Madison this is a fertile recruiting area. Throw in South GA and it’s one of the better in the SE.
