The No. 19 Florida State men’s tennis team will host its final game of the regular season against in-state rivals Miami on Friday at 5:30 p.m. FSU will hold a Senior Day pre-match ceremony recognizing Alex Bulte, Jamie Connel, Joshua Dous-Karpenschif, and Youcef Rihane.
The Seminoles hold an 18-10 record over the Hurricanes since 2000 and have won the last two matches of the series. The match will be telecasted on ACC Network Extra for a second time this season with Shawn Davidson and Tony Whitehurst on the call.
Florida State extended its winning streak to six consecutive matches following home victories against Notre Dame and Louisville. The Seminoles won four singles matches to pull away with a 4-1 over the Irish before sealing a 4-2 contest over the Cardinals.
Corey Craig continued his strong run of form with a 6-2, 7-5 straight-sets victory over the No. 80 player in the nation on Sunday following his epic three-set battle that was left unfinished against Notre Dame. Craig extended his six-match unbeaten streak in singles play which has included three ranked Court 1 wins.
Jamie Connel slashed through his matches this past weekend with a 6-2, 6-0 performance on Thursday before securing the third point over Louisville 6-3, 6-1 . Connel has won 24 of his last 30 games played and 36 of the last 42 games following a perfect 6-0, 6-0 win at North Carolina last weekend.
Erik Schiessl enjoyed one of his best weekends after recording his first career Court 3 win in ACC play against Notre Dame and winning on Court 4 against Louisville. Youcef Rihane clinched the match victory over Louisville and earned his 73rd singles victory as a Seminole to propel himself into the top-25 of the all-time FSU singles win list.
The newest ITA rankings were released Tuesday. Florida State retained its position at No. 19 in the team rankings to mark its 7th week in the top 25 this season. Craig maintained his No. 15 singles ranking while Connel climbed up six spots to No. 46 to return to the top 50. Alex Bulte and Youcef Rihane checked it at No. 15 in the doubles ranking.
