The Florida State softball team's three-game series against Oregon has a deeper purpose than most might think.
FSU pitcher Meghan King was high school teammates with Oregon catcher Gwen Svekis. They're friendship goes back to middle school. Svekis' mother, Holly, has become like a second mother to King. It's why King wanted to do something when Holly was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer.
King -- along with her teammates and FSU's coaching staff -- took the time to send Holly a care package with inspirational notes.
