The No. 23 Florida State women's basketball team (20-6, 10-4 ACC) defeated Miami (13-12, 3-11 ACC) on Sunday at the Watsco Center in Coral Gables.

With 3.3 seconds left, O’Mariah Gordon found Makayla Timpson in the paint for the jumper to pull ahead 83-82. The Seminoles stopped the Hurricanes on the final play to pick up the 10th ACC win of the season.

Gordon had a career-high 34 points and added seven assists. Gordon made a career-best 14 field goals and was 5-of-5 at the free throw line, including two shots with 11 seconds left.

Timpson contributed 22 points, nine rebounds, three steals and a block.

Sydney Bowles also scored in double figures, adding 18 points, including four three-point shots.

Florida State started strong with five three-pointers and used a 10-0 run to take the early lead, 25-19.

FSU kept up the momentum in the second quarter with two 6-0 runs and went into the locker room shooting over 50 percent, leading 49-45.

The Seminoles kept the 63-58 edge heading into the fourth. However, Miami fought back and took a four-point lead with under four minutes to go.

Bowles hit a pair of free throws to pull within two and after a stop, Timpson battled on the offensive glass to secure the basket, drawing the foul. FSU took the lead 76-75 after Timpson completed the three-point play.

The teams traded leads, until Timpson secured the 83-82 win.

The Seminoles will return home to host Pitt on Thursday at 6 p.m. on the ACC Network Extra.
