The Florida State softball team (21-5) will face its toughest test of the season when they travel to Norman, Okla., to face No. 1 Oklahoma (20-1) at Marita Hynes field on Tuesday night. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. eastern on ESPN+.
This will be the first time that the Seminoles have played in Norman against the Sooners. The Seminoles will be looking for its first true road win against a No. 1 ranked team in program history. The Seminoles are 7-11 all-time against No. 1 ranked teams. Oklahoma was the last No. 1 ranked team that the Seminoles faced as the two teams met in the championship series of the Women's College World Series in 2021.
Head Coach Lonni Alameda will return to Norman as the head coach for the Seminoles for the first time. Alameda played for the Sooners from 1989-92 and was a two-time All-Big Eight selection. Alameda is 2-4 against the Sooners as the head coach for the Seminoles.
The Seminoles are coming off a series loss to No. 3 Oklahoma State. The Seminoles rallied in the first game to take down the Cowgirls 7-5 but dropped back-to-back games against the Cowgirls on Saturday and Sunday. Tuesday will be the sixth game that the Seminoles have played against a top five team this season.
