FSU softball plays at UF on Wednesday

The third-ranked Florida State softball team (43-8, 19-2) returns to action with a rivalry matchup with the 17th-ranked Florida Gators on Wednesday night at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium in Gainesville, Fla. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. on ESPNU with Beth Mowins and Michelle Smith on the call.

The two teams played just last week in Tallahassee as the Seminoles came away victorious with a 5-3 win over the Gators. This marked the Seminoles' fourth-straight win over the Gators which tied for the Seminoles' longest winning streak in the series. The Seminoles will be looking to win back-to-back games in Gainesville for the first time since 2003 as the Seminoles' defeated Florida in a 4-2 win in 10 innings last season in Gainesville.

The Seminoles have been red hot as they have won eight-straight games and have won 22 out of their last 24 contests. The Seminoles are in complete control of the ACC and will need just one win against Louisville to claim the ACC Regular Season Championships. The Seminoles are coming off another ACC sweep against the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame as they outscored the Irish 28-6 in three games.

Reid Named Top 25 Finalist for TUCCI/NFCA Freshman of the Year
  • Makenna Reid was named a Top 25 Finalist for the TUCCI/NFCA Freshman of the Year award on Apr. 28.
  • This is the second consecutive season that a Seminole has made the list as Michaela Edenfield was named a finalist in 2022.
Sandercock Named Top 25 Finalist for USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year
  • Kathryn Sandercock was named a top 25 finalist for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year.
  • This is the second consecutive season Sandercock has been named a top 25 finalist.
  • Sandercock looks to join Lacey Waldrop (2014) and Jessica van der Linden (2004) as the only Seminoles to win the award.

  • The Seminoles have one of the toughest schedules in the country this season. The Seminoles will play 20 games against teams ranked in the top 25, 19 of those games being away from Tallahassee. 19 out of the Seminoles’ 23 road or neutral site games are against teams in the top 25.
  • The Noles are one of nine teams ranked in the top 25 to play 20 or more games against top 25 ranked opponents.
  • The Noles currently hold a 13-6 record against ranked opponents.
