Soccer FSU star Beata Olsson signs with Swedish pro team

Florida State University soccer star Beata Olsson has signed a professional contract with top division team AIK in her home country of Sweden. She capped her outstanding FSU career with a goal and two assists in the Seminoles’ National Championship win against Stanford on Dec. 4.

Olsson, a three-time All-ACC performer and two-time National Champion, had seven goals and nine assists during her senior season in 2023 and started all 23 games for the Seminoles in their record-breaking season.

She was sensational throughout FSU’s march through the post-season this year scoring the decisive goal in Florida State’s ACC Tournament semifinal win over No. 11 Pitt and had the assist on the winning goal in the ACC Championship match against No. 7 Clemson. She continued her stellar play with a goal against Morehead State in the First Round win over Morehead State in the NCAA Tournament. She followed that with an assist on FSU’s lone goal in the win over Texas A&M in the NCAA Second Round and scored the opening goal against Texas in the Third Round match.

Olsson, who is from Enkoping, Sweden, started 23 games as a junior in 2022 when the Noles reached the College Cup and 21 for the Seminoles during their 2021 Championship seas

Olsson was equally accomplished academically earning CoSIDA All-District Academic honors in 2023 and was an NCAA Elite 90 Winner in 2020.

  • Started all 23 games for the Seminoles as a striker and played for the sixth-most minutes on the team (1,645).
  • Totaled six goals and three assists for 15 points on the year.
  • Recorded first assist of the season to Jenna Nighswonger at Georgia during the Seminoles’ 3-1 win on (8/21).
  • Recorded 4 shots and 2 shots on goal in 65 minutes of play in a 1-1 draw against No. 16 Auburn _(8/25).
  • Recorded her first goal of the season to aid the Seminoles in a 5-0 victory against Florida (9/4).
  • Recorded 3 shots in a 5-0 victory against FGCU (9/8).
  • Became the third Seminole this season to achieve two goals in a game in a 5-0 victory against Rice (9/11).
  • Scored her fourth goal of the season in FSU’s 5-1 win over Louisville (9/22).
  • Assisted on Florida State’s third and final goal in a 3-1 win over No. 14 Clemson (9/25).
  • Scored her fifth goal of the season on a header in a 5-1 win over No. 12 Duke (10/13).
  • Recorded an assist against LSU(11/18) in the second round of the NCAA Tournament and scored the game-winning goal against No. 19 Pitt (11/20) in the third round of the NCAA Tournament.

2021 HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Played in 23 games with 21 starts during FSU’s 2021 National Championship campaign.
  • Led the Seminoles in Points (29) and goals (14).
  • Scored her first goal as a Seminole against Alabama (8/22).
  • Tallied three shots on goal and a goal in the Seminoles’ 4-0 win against South Alabama (8/26).
  • Earned her first brace of the season with two goals in a 5-2 win over Florida (9/2).
  • Scored the fastest goal of the season in 29 seconds at No. 10 Auburn (9/12).
  • Scored a goal at Louisville on her only shot of the game helping the Seminoles to win 3-0 (9/26).
  • Earned five points during the Seminole’s 4-1 at Clemson with two goals and one assist to Jenna Nighswonger (10/1).
  • Scored the game-winner during the 2-0 win at Virginia Tech (10/15).
  • Recorded her third multi-goal game of the season with two goals at North Carolina in FSU’s 2-2 draw (10/21).
  • Scored her 12th goal of the season during the first round of the NCAA Tournament against South Alabama at home (11/12).
  • Scored on a breakaway in the second round of the NCAA Tournament against No. 25 SMU (11/19).
  • Scored her third game-winning goal this season in the first overtime against No. 9 Michigan in the NCAA quarterfinals (11/26).

Spring 2021 (Florida):

  • Seven goals led the 2020-21 Gators.
  • Finished second on the team with 14 points.
  • Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week (March 29) after providing both goals in a 2-0 win at North Florida
  • SEC Freshman Player of the Week (April 5), scored against Georgia (1-1 2OT) and at Miami (2-0)
  • Enrolled at UF for the spring semester, starting each match.
  • Had her first two-goal game against College of Charleston. It was the first two-goal match in a Gator debut since Savannah Jordan in 2013.
  • Recorded another two-goal game against UNF
  • Provided assist on Sammie Better’s goal versus Washington and a pair of assists versus FAU
  • Assisted on Alyssa Howell’s goal with less than a minute remaining in the opening half of 6-0 win at Kentucky and again connected with Howell for tying goal in 43rd minute versus LSU
  • Her five assists stood second for Florida

Club:

  • IK Uppsala finished the 2019 Elitettan League in second place, earning the club promotion to the Damallsveskan (Sweden’s top division) in 2020
  • Led Division 2 (Mellersta Svealand) in 2016 with 27 goals
  • Three-year member of IK Uppsala Fotboll, where coached by Jonas Valfridsson

International:

  • Member of Sweden U-19 National Team; scored seven goals during U-19 UEFA Championships qualification play
  • Represented Sweden at the U-18 level versus Iceland and Norway in the summer of 2018
  • Scored six goals for Sweden’s U-17 National Team in UEFA Championship qualification play
  • Played in 39 matches for Swedish Youth National Teams (2016-20), scoring 10 goals with U-17 team and seven for U-19
 
Good luck to her. BP gave her and LeiLani great credit as being the most competitive athletes he's ever been around. That's quite a compliment, because you know he has been around a lot of Alpha females in his time.
