Florida State tight end Mavin Saunders spoke with reporters Friday as he was recently honored for his volunteer work at Riley Elementary school in Tallahassee.
Saunders began volunteering as a way to get extra credit for a class. But after his class ended, he continued to stay on and has worked with youth at the school for the last 18 months.
Saunders said he was shocked to win the award but would add he does it to make a difference and not receive attention.
