FSU sports information:

The No.26/ RV Florida state cross country teams will race in the GT XC Invitational, hosted by Georgia Tech on Friday at Bouckaert Farm.

The men’s 8k will start at 8:30 a.m., followed by the women’s 6k at 9:20 a.m. Live timing will be available.

"It can always be a little stressful for race plans to change,” said FSU women’s head coach Cody Halsey. “We feel lucky to have had the opportunity to add another meet to the schedule last minute after ours was canceled due to Hurricane Helene. I think the girls are really excited for the chance to compete and we are looking forward to the opportunity to do that at Georgia Tech.”

Sophomore Bieke Schipperen had a breakout performance at the Nuttycombe Invitational on September 27th. Leading the Noles in the women’s 6k. The Dussen, Netherlands native finished 17th with a time of 20:30.2, marking the highest finish for a Seminole at the Nuttycombe Invitational since Collen Quigley placed 13th in 2014. FSU received votes in week two USTFCCCA poll.

The men’s team entered the USTFCCCA national rankings for the first time this season at No.26, after finishing 15th overall as a team at the Nuttycombe Invitational. Kidus Misgina led the Noles for the second straight meet, after placing 16th in the 8k at 23:45.9. Matthew Neill set a career best, placing 37th with a time of 24:03.2. Joseph Farley made his season debut clocking a personal best of 24:40.2, placing 99th.

“Really excited to get our guys another competition this weekend in Georgia,” said assistant coach Ian Frazier. “Hurricane Helene unfortunately took away an opportunity to compete at home, which we were excited about for obvious reason, as Apalachee Regional Park is hosting the upcoming NCAA South Regional meet.”

“Georgia Tech is a course our guys are familiar with and have had good experiences within the past,” added Frazier. "I'm excited to see how they fare in their first 8k of the season, as we’ve got some great talent in that group that can contribute to our ACC squad in the next month.”
