The Florida State women’s swimming and diving team competed in three events on the second day of the NCAA Championships on Thursday at the Weyerhauser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Washington.

The Seminoles finished the day with a 22nd-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay, after the day began with individual entries in the 200 individual medley and 1-meter springboard.

“We had a good day,” FSU head coach Neal Studd said. “Maddy Huggins had a nice morning swim, setting her up for her best events coming up. Same with Samantha Vear on the boards, now we are in the meet with our best things to come. We are ready. We had a great relay tonight, we were really solid all four legs and it was fun to watch them move up the rankings.”

FSU placed 22nd overall in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:28.78. Led by freshman Maryn McDade, fifth-year Jenny Halden and seniors Edith Jednsdtedt and Gloria Muzito, the relay was just off their seed time.

To open the first prelims session of the four-day national meet, senior Maddy Huggins clocked in just shy of her personal best with a 1:57.63 to place 44th in the 200 individual medley. Thursday was Huggins’ first of three individual events for the week.

Senior Samantha Vear also competed for the Noles on 1-meter. She was 46th with a score of 239.25.

There are eight student athletes representing the Noles at NCAAs from March 19-22. Events continue on Friday, with prelims at 1 p.m. ET. Huggins will race in the 100 breaststroke and senior Edith Jernstedt will swim the 100 butterfly, where the top 16 finishers advance to finals. Vear and redshirt junior Kayleigh Clark will compete on 3-meter at 3:15 p.m. ET. The top eight divers advance to finals, and those who finish ninth-16th compete in the consolation final at 8:15 p.m. ET. The Seminoles will also race in the 400 medley relay in Friday’s finals session at 9 p.m. ET, led by freshman Alice Velden, Huggins, Jernstedt and senior Gloria Muzito.

All sessions will be streamed live on ESPN+. Live results can be found at Meet Mobile and online here, and additional championships info is available here. Direct links and live updates can be found by following and connecting with the Seminoles on Twitter/X, Instagram and Facebook.
