Getting into Florida post Irma (EDIT: Anyone live in/around Mt. Dora?)

So, my dad (age 70) is in Lady Lake and my two aunts (53 & 68) both live in a state-run group home (they are both mentally handicap) in Mt Dora. They will all require recovery assistance once Irma dissipates.

Thoughts on flying/rental car vs driving from San Antonio? I'm thinking resources will be hard to come by, gas, rental, etc, so I thought about driving. I can fill my Accord up with fuel and gas up along the way until I get deep enough into Florida where there's no fuel.

How do you think the roads will be? How are they now? Suicide Mission? Thoughts?

EDIT:
Anyone live in/around Mt. Dora/Tavares/Leesburg? Looking for someone willing to do a health/wellness check after this storm passes...possibly take damage photos for me too. (BIG ASK, I know)

Coming IN right now is not likely a problem - the traffic jams are people trying to leave. But those traffic jams are pretty bad, and early next week most of those people will be trying to get back.

That's what I'm worried about. Not even sure I can take I10 through Houston yet....if I can then it's 75 south that concerns me. I can drive 500+ miles with my Honda and will take a few 5-gal jugs with me, but even that is a sketchy plan.

You can make it on I-10 through Houston. But plan on sitting in traffic forever. Beltway 8 West is still flooded. I-10 around Beaumont was still flooded. May clear this weekend. There are no rental cars in Houston. Might be hard to get one in San Antonio.
