GM Nav Systems

probably copies but it's to the point where I say screw em. You pay more up front for the system than it is worth then they try to screw you over and over on updates.

For our Honda, I usually buy a year old disc off ebay for around 100. That website would be a good deal, but for Honda they only have Europe. Rats. I will never buy another factory nav. Garmin all the way.

Chevy offered me the current update for $150. Seemed reasonable

To me, that is outrageous. Honda is about the same. I paid $2000 for the option, and now I have to pay another $150 a year to keep it up to date? BS. Buy a Garmin or Magellan and you get free lifetime updates. Plus, as Jam said, you have google maps on your phone.

I agree- phone is best. I rarely even use the one in my truck.

I have a 5 inch screen Garmin with free lifetime maps and it has operated flawlessly. If it ever craps out on me, I will get another one without hesitation.

I am over in car Nav systems as well because of the updates being more expensive than they should and heck with all the construction going on in a bunch of cities, they get out of date fast.

Before smartphones, garmin gps worked great but also charged for updated maps. Now that smart phones have free gps via Google maps with free updates, Garmin and others offer lifetime updates. If you use GPS frequently and don't have a plan to support the data you would use for google msps navi, i would say go with the portable gps with unlimited map updates. Otherwise just use smartphone with google maps. You can even get a docking station to mount in car for ease of viewing.
