I feel very good about our chances at going 7-0 this year at home. I felt that way before Golson announced that he was coming to FSU and I still feel that way.
It is our road slate that offers our toughest tests, and I was worried about Maguire at BC in his first road game. But now I love looking at Golson's list of road games and seeing that he's already gone to BC and won and that he had a really good game there as a R-FR in 2012.
Maguire would be going on the road for the first time at BC and he'd be facing a lot of tough road games in his first year. He'd win some and he'd lose some ... and I'm sure that he'd lose some just like Golson lost some ... but now I feel a lot better about our chances in 2015 as we will have a QB that has already gone into some of the most hostile venues in college football and has won some really big games. He has won on the road at Michigan State, Oklahoma, and USC. He also played very well at FSU. And he's got some tough road losses too including games at Arizona State and USC and against Bama in the national championship game.
Our new QB is battle tested and he's done well in a lot of really tough environments. And because of that I feel a lot better about our changes at BC, GT, Clemson and Florida (we also play at Wake this year).
I'm certainly not guaranteeing wins or anything, but at least we'll have a guy playing QB that has experience in tough road environments.
