We are looking to rent a home for the Miami weekend and found one that is 3 miles west of the university, near the corner of Tennessee Street and Capital Circle NW.....can anyone who lives in Tally let me know if this is a relatively safe area? I am bringing up the family for the game and want to make sure the area is ok. Appreciate the help

When I was a kid that was kinda out in the sticks. Older houses with farms...the car lots and mobile home dealers were east of there.
If north of that intersection and closer to Tharpe, it may be getting a little rough these days.

Thanks for the heads up

Not the greatest area but not awful. It's really just not that appealing. Lots of car dealerships, big box stores, industrial sites, 1970s neighborhoods, etc. Not pedestrian friendly. But, you're within an easy 15 -20 minute drive of some nice stuff. So there's that. I've gotten really used to living in midtown and walking to the places that many folks have to jump in their cars, fight traffic and find parking to get to. I hope you enjoy the game. (I hope we all do!)

Tallahassee was just rated one of the top 10 most dangerous cities in the country. So if you're in the 850, you're gonna need your '9'

Yes. It will be fine. One of my best friends lives just east of there off Buck Lake Rd. It's somewhat bland over there but it's fine
He is looking at the west side of town. Busch Lake Rd. is East side, my friend.

I live off W. Tharpe and it can get kinda dicey on this side of town, nut I've never had a problem. There by Cap. Circle and W. Tennessee, I'm not familiar with any neighborhoods, though. It's all developed over the past 20-25 years ago; there's a huge Walmart on the corner there (probably says a little something about the area right there).

But are you worried for your personal safety or that your stuff could get broken into and stolen while you're at the game?

So, inquiring minds want to know...did you pull the trigger? Feel safe? There was a kid in middle school from over that way who had a big gap between his very buck toothed top teeth. We always said that he could eat corn through a picket fence. He was pretty harmless though.

More east toward Appleyard and it's a little sketchier. Compared to other crappy areas of Tally, it's not as bad though. So being west of there and taking that into consideration, you should be fine.
