When you think about the top college coaches in the country or listen to any of the talking heads out there, the same names stand out immediately -- Nick Saban and Urban Meyer. There's little arguing the national titles and recruiting success of each, but I think a third name should come to mind. Florida State's Jimbo Fisher belongs in the same rarified air.

Take a look at these numbers and tell me you disagree. I dare you. The Seminoles, under Fisher, have won 33 straight regular season games, 28 straight ACC games, 17 straight games at home and his record at FSU is 64-11 and 45-3 in the last 3-plus seasons. In recruiting, FSU has finished 6th, 10th, 4th and 3rd in the last four full recruiting cycles. Oh and let's not forget about the national title of his and the fact that he's finished first in Atlantic Division every year but one since he took over.

I know, I know -- the ACC stinks, but is that his fault? Virginia Tech has faded, Miami never brought what it was supposed to bring to the ACC and no one has really emerged aside from Clemson as a potential national power. So FSU beats the teams they are supposed to beat and yet are still ranked way down at No. 9 in the country.

Yes, I gushed a bit about Alabama on Monday and maybe it was over-the-top saying they are the best team in the country, especially with a loss to Ole Miss, but after I wrote it, a question came into my little brain. Should Alabama be ranked ahead of a Power Five team that hasn't lost a regular season game in three years? And, more importantly, what if Alabama or someone else in the SEC was ranked No. 9 in the country with FSU's record and resume over the last three seasons? There would be anarchy and the sky itself would open and rain lightning on those who dared disrespect the great SEC. FSU gets screwed by being in the ACC and Fisher should be mentioned amongst the elite. Soon I'll rank my 10 best head coaches in the country based on a combination of winning and recruiting and you can bet Jimbo will be near the top. - See more at: https://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1816285#sthash.K0rmAOnP.dpuf
