Before I started doing high school evaluations the NFL Draft was where everything began. I would do a draft guide every year. I would break down college games by watching football from 12pm till the Hawaii game would end. I remember sitting and watching all of Marshall Faulks games on the west coast. I would get on the Radio for draft day with WQAM in Miami. A friend of mine convinced me to to write up evaluations on HS kids and sell it to colleges. That is how I got into the buisiness. I broke down each teams draft....

Arizona

Paris Johnson-OT-(1) (Ohio State)

BJ Ojulari-OLB-(2) (LSU)

Garrett Williams-CB-(3) (Syracuse)

Michael Williams-WR-(3) (Stanford)

Jon Gaines II-OG-(4) (UCLA)

Clayton Tune-QB-(5) (Houston)

Owen Pappoe-LB-(5) Auburn)

Kei’Trel Clark-CB-(6) (Louisville)

Dante Stills-DT-(6) (West Virginia)

Grade-C+: This draft is going to come down to the top three picks. Johnson needs to become a LT starter and a pro bowl selection down the road. I liked Johnson but thought the Cards drafted him to high. Ojuliari is a boom or bust type player. Before hurting his knee Williams was very good. Owen Pappoe was a big time recruit out of high school that never lived up to his potential. Dante Stills was a very good player in college.

Atlanta

Bijan Robinson-RB (1) (Texas)

Matthew Bergeron-OG-(2) (Syracuse)

Zach Harrison-DE-(3)(Ohio State)

Clark Phillips-CB-(4) (Utah)

DeMarcco Hellams (7) (Alabama)

Jovaugh Gwyn (7) (South Carolina)

Grade D: I don’t care how good Robinson was in college. You don’t draft running backs in the top ten anymore. The only team in the top ten who I would have been ok with drafting Robinson is the Eagles. Robinson can end up an All-Pro but Atlanta needed to get a quarterback and did not get one. The rest of this draft better produce. Atlanta is playing for a shot at Caleb Williams and Drake May next spring.

Baltimore

Zay Flowers-WR (1) (Boston College)

Trenton Simpson-LB-(3) (Clemson)

Tavius Robinson-LB-(4) (Ole Miss)

Kyu Blu Kelly-CB-(5) (Stanford)

Malasala Laulu-OT-(6) (Oregon)

Andrew Vorhees-OG-(7) (USC)

Grade B: Getting Jackson signed was priority number one. Landing him a pass catching threat was priority number 2. Flowers is an elite level slot and one of the best receivers in this year’s class. I feel he will have an impact right away. Simpson had a first round grade and they landed him in round 3. That is quality right there. The rest of the draft will provide some solid backups. You need those players after giving away the type of money they did to Lamar.

Buffalo

Dalton Kincaid-TE-(1) (UTAH)

O’Cyrus Torrence-OG-(2) (Florida)

Dorian Williams-ILB-(3) (Tulane)

Justin Shorter-WR-(5) (Florida)

Nick Broeker-OG-(7) (Ole Miss)

Alex Austin-CB-(7) (Oregon State)

Grade-B: The Bills needed to improve their OL and got probably the best OG in the draft. Kincaid should add another star player on offense. If you watched Tulane this year you would have seen Williams make plays all over the field. Anything else from this class is icing on the cake.

Carolina

Bryce Young-QB-(1) (Alabama)

Jonathnan Mingo-WR-(2) (Ole Miss)

DJ Johnson-LB-(3) (Oregon)

Chandler Zavala-OG-(4) (NC State)

Jamie Robinson-S-(5) (FSU)

Grade C: I am not a huge fan of Young. He has a good but not great arm. He is accurate and can anticipate well. His size concerns me. Carolina also gave up a lot to get him. Where are the OL in this class? Mingo is a boom or bust type player at WR. Robinson may end up their best player in this draft 3-4 years from now.

Chicago

Darnell Wright-OT-(1) (Tennessee)

Gervon Dexter-DT-(2) (Florida)

Tyrique Stevenson-CB-(2) (Miami)

Zacch Pickens-DT-(3) (South Carolina)

Roschon Johnson-RB-(4) (Texas)

Tyler Scott-WR-(4) (Cincinnati)

Noah Sewell-LB-(5) (Oregon)

Terrell Smith-CB-(5)(Minnesota)

Travis Bell-DT-(7) Kennesaw State)

Kendall Williamson-CB-(Stanford)

Grade C+
: The Bears traded down and did not get one of the top players in the draft. Darnell Wright is a high upside/high bust type player. Worst case scenario he plays RT or guard. Gervon Dexter has a ton of potential but has yet to reach it. Stevenson and Pickens have upside but could be bust. This draft will be either really good or really bad.

Cincinnati

Myles Murphy –DE (1) (Clemson)

DJ Turner-CB-(2) (Michigan)

Jordan Battle-S-(3) (Alabama)

Charlie Jones-WR-(4) (Purdue)

Chase Brown-RB-(5) (Illinois)

Andrei Losivas-WR-(6) (Princeton)

Brad Robbins-P-(6) (Michigan)

DJ Ivey-CB-(7) (Miami)

Grade B: Murphy is a high risk/high reward player. He has all the physical attributes to be an elite player in the NFL. Turner is a very solid corner. Battle was very production at Bama. Where the Bengals got value was in the m idle rounds with Charlie Jones and Chase Brown. Both players were two of the very best in the country last season.

Cleveland

Cedric Tillman-(WR) (3) (Tennessee)

Siaki Ika-(DT) (3) (Baylor)

Dawand Jones-OT-(4) (Ohio State)

Isaiah McGuire-DE-(4) (Missouri)

Dorian Thompson-QB-(5) (UCLA)

Cameron Mitchell-DB-(5) (Northwestern)

Luke Wypler-C-(6) (Ohio State)

Grade: C: Giving away all your draft capital for Deshaun Watson was the first mistake. The Browns also gave him a guaranteed contract which was mistake number 2. Not drafting until round 3 made it difficult for the Browns to really upgrade their roster. It will be interesting to see how many of these players make their roster.

Dallas

Mazi Smith –DT-(1) (Michigan)

Luke Schoonmaker-TE-(2) (Michigan)

DeMarvion Overshown-LB-(3) (Texas)

Villami Fehoko-DE-(4) (San Jose State)

Asim Richards-OT-(5) (North Carolina)

Eric Scott-CB-(6) (Southern Miss)

Deuce Vaughn-RB-(6) (Kansas State)

Jalen Brooks-WR-(7) (South Carolina)

Grade-D+: Since Jimmy left the Cowboys just don’t get the draft. Jerry Jones while under control of this football team has continued to draft with no consistency. They take Mazi Smith who is a two down lineman. Dallas needed a tight end and waited too long as all the top guys came off the board. They need help in the secondary and wait till the 6th round to pick a corner. Deuce Vaughn will have a shot to make the team as Dallas needs a running back. Pollard is coming off an injury and Zeke is gone. Dallas continues to fall further behind the Eagles.

Denver

Marvin Mims-(WR) (2) (Oklahoma)

Drew Sanders-(ILB) (3) (Arkansas)

Riley Moss-(CB) (3) (Iowa)

JL Skinner-(S)(6) (Boise State)

Alex Forsyth-C-(7) (Oregon)

Grade –Inc.-Denver gave up picks to get Sean Payton. Without a first round pick it is tough to really gauge this draft. Mims will be a productive player in this offense. Sanders is a nice pick in round 3. Forsyth could make the team as Denver needs help on the offensive line.

Detroit

Jahmyr Gibbs-RB (1) (Alabama, GT)

Jack Campbell-ILB-(1) (Iowa)

Sam LaPorta-TE-(2) (Iowa)

Brian Branch-S-(2) (Alabama)

Hendon Hooker-QB-(3) (Tennessee/Va. Tech)

Brodric Martin-DT-(3) (Western Kentucky)

Colby Sorsdal-OT-(5) (William and Mary)

Anotine Green-WR-(7) (North Carolina)

Grade-C: I felt Detroit had a chance to really improve their football team. The Lions did not need a running back and I am not wasting a top 15 pick on that position. Not with some of the other names still on the board in round 2-3. Campbell is a contributor and could start at some point. Hooker is the interesting piece in this draft as he may end up taking over for Goff at some point.

Green Bay

Lukas Van Ness-DE-(1)(Iowa)

Luke Musgrave-TE-(2) (Oregon State)

Jayden Reed-WR-(2) (Michigan State)

Tucker Kraft-TE-(3) (South Dakota State)

Colby Wooden-DT-(4) (Auburn)

Sean Clifford-QB-(5) (Penn State)

Dontayvion Wicks-WR-(Virginia)

Karl Brooks-DE-(6) (Bowling Green)

Anders Carlson-PK (6) (Auburn)

Carrington Valentine-CB-(7) (Kentucky)

Lew Nichols-RB-(7) (Central Michigan)

Anthony Johnson-DB-(7) (Iowa State)

Grant Dubuose-WR-(7)-(Charlotte)

Grade-B: The Packers continue to draft defense in the first round. Van Ness fits the mold of a Packers type draft pick. Musgrave is very good. Grant Dubose in round 7 maybe a player who actually makes the team. The Packers drafted a ton of players as this is a team that is looking for a youth movement.

Houston

CJ Stroud –QB (1) (Ohio State)

Will Anderson-DE/OLB-(1) (Alabama)

Juice Scruggs-C-(2) (Penn State)

Nathaniel Dell-WR-(3) (Houston)

Dylan Horton-DE-(4) (TCU)

Henry To’O’to-LB-(5) (Alabama)

Jarrett Patterson-C-(6) (Notre Dame)

Xavier Hutchinson-WR-(6) (Iowa State)

Brandon Hill-DB-(7) (Pittsburgh)

Grade-B: I am not sure what to think of Stroud. The grade for this draft goes up or down on he progresses. I would have traded up like they did for both Carter and Anderson. I think the rest of the draft for Houston is ok. When you draft as high as they do each round the players you select should be better than what they got. If Stroud bust then this draft class will be a disappointment.

Indy

Anthony Richardson-QB-(1)(UF)

Julius Brents-CB-(2) (Kansas State)

Josh Downs-WR-(3) (North Carolina)

Blake Freelad-OT-(4) (BYU)

Adetomiwa Adebawore-DE-(4) (Northwestern)

Darius Rush-CB-(5) (South Carolina)

Daniel Scott-S-(5) (Cal)

Will Mallory-TE-(5) (Miami)

Evan Hull-RB-(5) (Northwestern)

Titus Leon-LB-(6) (Wagner)

Jaylon Jones-CB-(7) (Texas A&M)

Jake Witt-OT-(7) (Northern Michigan)

Grade- C : The Colts draft comes down to the success of Anthony Richardson. The boom or bust type pick will determine what the Colts do over the next 2-3 seasons. Josh Downs should be a steal in round 3. Mallory is a value pick if the kid can stay healthy. Evan Hull was one of the best backs in the Big 10.

Jacksonville

Anton Harrison –OT (1) (Oklahoma)

Brenton Strange-TE-(2) (Penn State)

Tank Bigsby-RB-(3) (Auburn)

Ventrell Miller-ILB (4) (Florida)

Tyler Lacy-DE-(4) (Oklahoma State)

Yasir Abdullah-OLB (5) (Louisville)

Antonio Johnson-S-(5) (Texas A&M)

Parker Washington-WR-(6) (Penn State)

Christian Braswell-CB-(6) (Rutgers)

Erick Hallett-DB-(6) (Pittsburgh)

Cooper Hodges-OT-(7) (App State)

Raymond Vohasek-DT (7) (North Carolina)

Derek Parish-FB-(7) (Houston)

Grade-C+: The Jaguars come off a nice season. I felt they needed to hit a home run in this draft. You are always looking to get better. Where are the play makers in this group? Harrison was a reach in round 1. Strange was not even one of the better tight ends on the board. Bigsby is a nice back. Miller is a solid take in round 5. This draft will probably provide nice depth but where are the players who put the Jags over the top?

KC

Felix Anudike Uzomah(DE) (1) (Kansas State)

Rashee Rice—WR-(2) (SMU)

Wayna Morris-OT-(3) (Oklahoma)

Chamarrie Conner-DB-(4) (Virginia Tech)

BJ Thompson-LB-(5) (Stephen F Austin)

Kedondre Coburn-DT-(6) (Texas)

Nic Jones-CB-(7) (Ball State)

Grade – C+:
When you are drafting at the bottom of the first round it is tough to land difference makers. The defensive end in round one is a project. The rest of their draft class will have a tough time making the roster.

LA Chargers

Quentin Johnston –WR-(1) (TCU)

Tuli Tuipulotu –OLB-(2) (USC)

Daiyan Henley-ILB-(3) (Washington State)

Derius Davis-WR-(4) (TCU)

Jordan McFadden-OG-(5) (Clemson)

Scott Matlock-DT-(6) (Boise State)

Matt Duggan-QB-(7) (TCU)

Grade-D: San Diego is run terribly. I would not have touched anyone off the USC defense last year. Johnston the receiver is nice but they have two of the same guys already on the roster. This draft leaves you wondering what direction the Chargers are going in.

Los Angeles Rams

Steve Avila-OG-(2) (TCU)

Byron Young-DE-(3) (Tennessee)

Kobie Turner-DT-(4) (Wake)

Stetson Bennett-QB-(4) (Georgia)

Nick Hampton-OLB-(5) (App State)

Warren McClendon-(5) (Georgia)

Davis Allen-TE-(5) (Clemson)

Puca Nacua-WR-(5) (BYU)

Trevius Tomlinson-CB-(6) (TCU)

Ochaun Mathis-DE-(6) (Nebraska)

Zach Evans-RB-(6) (Ole Miss)

Ethan Evans-P-(7) (Wingate)

Jason Taylor-S-(7) (Oklahoma State)

Desjuan Johnson-DE-(7) (Toledo)

Grade B: Considering the Rams did not have a first round pick they did a good job. Avilia should end up a starter on a very average offensive line. Young from Tennessee gives them some versatility at defensive end. I really like the Allen kid from Clemson. Evans out of Ole Miss could end up making the roster.

Las Vegas Raiders

Tyree Wilson-DE-(1) (Texas Tech)

Michael Mayer-TE-(2) (Notre Dame)

Byron Young-DT-(3) (Alabama)

Tre Tucker-WR-(3) (Cincinnati)

Jakorian Bennett-CB-(4) (Maryland)

Aidan O’Connell QB-(4) (Purdue)

Christopher Smith-S-(5) (Georgia)

Amari Burney-OLB-(6) (Florida)

Nesta Silvera-DT-(7) (Arizona State)

Grade-B+: I really like the Raiders two first picks. Wilson is very good. I would have taken Mayer first of all the tight ends. Tucker from Cincinnati could be a surprise pick. O’Connell is a kid I feel could make the Raiders roster. Burney is someone to also keep an eye on.

Miami Dolphins

Cam Smith-DB-(2) (South Carolina)

Devon Achane-RB-(3) (Texas A&M)

Elijah Higgins-WR-(6) (Stanford)

Ryan Hayes-OT-(7) (Michigan)

Grade-C+: If 3 of the 4 make the team this grade will go up to a B. The Dolphins did not have many picks but landing Smith who should have a shot at starting at one corner and Achane who may end up starting at RB. They did very well for themselves.

Minnesota

Jordan Addison-WR (1) (USC)

Mekhi Blackmon-CB-(3) (USC)

Jay Ward-S-(4) (LSU)

Jaquelin Roy-DT-(5) (LSU)

Jaren Hall-QB-(5) (BYU)

Dewayne McBride-RB-(7) (UAB)

Grade-C+: Addison makes up for the Loss of Adam Thielen. Outside of his pick the Vikings got very little out of this draft. McBride is a very good player and could make the team.

New Orleans

Bryan Bresee (DT) (1) (Clemson)

Isaiah Foskey-DE-(2) (Notre Dame)

Kendre Miller-WR-(3) (TCU)

Nick Saldiveri-OT-(4) (Old Dominion)

Jake Haener-QB-(4) (Fresno State)

Joran Howden-S-(5) (Minnesota)

AT Perry-WR-(6) (Wake Forest)

Grade C: Bresee has the talent. His biggest issue is staying on the field. He can’t stay healthy. If he can stay healthy, Bresee can become an All-Pro type defensive tackle. Foskey is a very good player and should do well. The next best player in this draft is Perry. The Saints look like a team heading into the wrong direction. They may be in play for Caleb Williams or Drake May next April.

New England

Christian Gonzalez-CB (1) (Oregon)

Keion White-DE-(2) (Georgia Tech)

Marte Mapu-ILB-(3) (Sacramento State)

Jake Andrews-C-(4) (Troy State)

Chad Ryland-K-(4) (Maryland)

Sidy Sow-OG (4) (Eastern Michigan)

Antonio Mafi-OG-(5) (UCLA)

Kayshon Boutte-WR-(6) (LSU)

Bryce Baringer-P-(6) (Michigan State)

Demario Douglas-WR-(6) (Liberty)

Ameer Speed-CB-(6) (Michigan State)

Isaiah Bolden-CB-(7) (Jackson State)

Grade B: Bill B is one of the very best at evaluating defensive players. Gonzalez is one of the best cover corners in this year’s draft. White fits the scheme that the Patriots run. You have to figure if the Pats drafted a punter and place kicker both of them will make the roster. Boutte is round 6. He went from a projected first round pick to barely being drafted. Douglas is someone I could see making the roster and being very good in the Pats offense.

NY Giants

Deonte Banks-CB-(1) (Maryland)

John Michael Schmitz-C-(2) (Minnesota)

Jalin Hyatt-WR-(3) (Tennessee)

Eric Gray-RB-(5) (Oklahoma)

Tre Hawkins-CB-(6) (Old Dominion)

Jordan Riley-DT-(7) (Oregon)

Gervarrius Owens-S-(7) (Houston)

Grade C+: This was not a flashy draft. They could have landed Joey Porter son who I feel will have a better career than Banks. Schmitz is a very good center. Probably as good as any you will see. Hyatt gives the Giants some speed on the outside. Gray is a productive back who lacks great top end speed.

New York Jets

Will McDonald-OLB (1) (Iowa State)

Joe Tippmann-C-(2) (Wisconsin)

Carter Warren-OT-(4) (Pittsburgh)

Israel Abankanda-RB(5) (Pittsburgh)

Zaire Barnes-OLB (6) (Western Michigan)

Jarrick Converse-CB-(6) (LSU)

Zach Kuntz-TE-(7) (Old Dominion)

Grade-A: Landing Rodgers this off-season gives the Jets a major pass on their draft. He is a major upgrade at QUARTERBACK. McDonald should fit right in and be an elite defender Day 1. Tippman helps an interior line that is not very good. Abankanda had a very good season. He is one that could also be a late round steal.

Philadelphia

Jalen Carter-DT-(1) (UGA)

Nolan Smith-DE-(1)(UGA)

Tyler Steen-OT-(3) (Alabama)

Sydney Brown-S-(3) (Illinois)

Kalee Ringo-CB-(4) (Georgia)

Tanner McKee-QB-(6) (Stanford)

Moro Ojomo-DE-(7) (Texas)

Grade A: Teams who make it to the Super Bowl should not land players like Carter. The Eagles hit the lottery and for that reason they get an A Grade. I am not as big of a fan of Nolan Smith. That being said he should fit well in their system. Tyler Steen should at least be a solid guard prospect in the NFL if tackle does not work out. Landing Ringo in round 4 is also a steal. McKee could make the team as a backup. He was highly rated heading into last season.

Pittsburgh

Broderick Jones-OT-(1) (UGA)

Joey Porter –C-(2) (Penn State)

Keeanu Benton-DT-(2) (Wisconsin)

Darnell Washington-TE-(3) (Georgia)

Nick Herbig-OLB-(4) (Wisconsin)

Cory Trice-CB-(7) (Purdue)

Spencer Anderson-OG-(7) (Maryland)

Grade-A: I can’t remember the Steelers ever having a really bad draft. They seem to always get players that fit their organization. Jones film was very impressive. Guys his size should not move like he does. Porter was one of my favorite players in the draft. Darnell Washington in round 3. Can whoever drafts for the Steelers please get hired by Jerry Jones.

Seattle

Devon Witherspoon-CB (1) (Illinois)

Jaxon Smith-Nijigba-WR (1) (Ohio State)

Derick Hall-OLB-(2) (Auburn)

Zach Charbonnett-RB-(2) (UCLA)

Anthony Bradford-OG-(4) (LSU)

Cameron Young-DT-(4) (Mississippi State)

Mike Morris-DE-(5) (Michigan)

Olusegun Oluwaitimi-C-(5) (Michigan)

Jerrick Reed-S-(6) (New Mexico)

Kenny McIntosh-RB-(7) (UGA)

Grade-A : The Seahawks had a great draft. You can argue they landed the top Corner (Witherspoon), top WR-(Nijigba) and top C (Oluwatimi) in the draft. Mike Morris was a nice pick in round 5. I feel Charbonnett may be the steal of the draft.

San Fran

Ji’Ayir Brown-S-(3) (Penn State)

Jake Moody-K-(3) (Michigan)

Cameron Latu-TE-(3) (Alabama)

Darell Luter-CB-(5) (South Alanama)

Robert Beal-DE-(5) (Georgia)

Dee Winters-ILB-(6) (TCU)

Brayden Willis-TE-(7) (Oklahoma)

Ronnie Bell-WR-(7) (Michigan)

Jalen Graham-OLB-(7) (Purdue)

Grade-C: It is tough to really grade a team’s draft when they don’t select to round 3. Brown from Penn State is a good player. Moody will make the team. Latu is going to play behind one of the best tight ends in the NFL. The rest of this draft class will be for depth purposes.

Tampa

Calijah Kancey-DT (1) (Pittsburgh)

Cody Mauch –OT-(2) (North Dakota State)

YaYa Diaby-DE-(3) (Louisville)

SirVocea Dennis-ILB-(5) (Pittsburgh)

Payne Durham-TE-(5) (Purdue)

Josh Hayes-CB-(5) (Kansas State)

Trey Palmer-WR-(6) (Nebraska)

Jose Ramirez-OLB-(6) (Eastern Michigan)

Grade: C: The Bucs picked one of the best interior defensive lineman in the draft. They had many other needs but I am not sure if they address them. Mauch should start at one of the tackle spots now that Smith was let go this off-season. The Bucs draft was meh…..They are another team heading in the wrong direction.

Tennessee

Peter Skornoski-OT (1) (Northwestern)

Will Levis-QB-(2) (Kentucky)

Tyjae Spears-RB-(3) (Tulane)

Josh Whyle-TE-(5) (Cincinnati)

Jaelyn Duncan-OT-(6) (Maryland)

Colton Dowell-WR-(7) (UT Martin)

Grade B: The Northwestern offensive lineman is a safe pick. He will at worst move into center or guard and be a very good player in the NFL. Levis in round 2 is a good pick. The Titans need a quarterback and the odds are Levis could see the field early next season. Spears was a value pick in round 3. He was a very good back at Tulane.

Washington

Emmanuel Forbes-CB-(1) (Mississippi State)

Jartavius Martin-S-(2) (Illinois)

Ricky Stromberg-C-(3) (Arkansas)

Braeden Daniels-OG-(4) (Utah)

KJ Henry –DE-(5) (Clemson)

Chris Rodriguez-RB-(6) (Kentucky)

Andre Jones-OLB-(7) (Louisiana)

Grade-C+: It would not shock me to see Rodriguez make the team. He is a very good running back. Forbes and Martin join a defense that will be the strength of the Redskins football team. How did this team not draft a quarterback? They are most likely in the mix for Caleb Williams and Drake May next April.
