When I was in Korea on business, I was taken out to a Karaoke bar. It was quite amazing. We had our own VIP room with an 8 foot TV/Video and plush velvet couches. Waitresses kept bringing shot after shot with fresh fruit and other snacks. We had a machine where we selected the songs. I was the only American there. Most of my colleagues chose Korean songs. My two performances were Sweet Home Alabama and Sympathy for the Devil, for which I told two of the young Korean associates to say "woo woo" every time I pointed at them. They didn't miss a beat.
I don't know if there was a Karaoke DJ or if anyone tipped them. I assume the waitresses were tipped, but not by me as my Korean colleagues picked up the tab. I don't know why I am rambling, I could probably blame Tribe (or totallynottribe) but it is my only CSB involving Karaoke and the unknown status of a DJ tip.
