The weird thing about this has been Ole Miss's continuous defense of Freeze throughout the NCAA Infractions case. Yet now they find things in his personal life and all of a sudden it was something that they simply couldn't accept and they finally can him. The problem I have with making that the reason is you also have to consider you have Houston Nutt's lawsuit out there. And you have a university that has defended Freeze while smearing Nutt. All of a sudden there are issues out there with Freeze to me that is information that could be damaging to Ole Miss in Houston Nutt's lawsuit considering they stood by Freeze while pinning all of their problems on Nutt. If they had swept it under the rug eventually it would have come out from discovery in Houston Nutt's lawsuit. Was Ole Miss really doing the right thing or were they trying to save face with Houston Nutt's lawsuit? Ole Miss doing the right thing would have been to cut ties with Freeze simply based on the NCAA charge of Lack of Institutional Control instead of waiting until they were hit with a lawsuit.
I would really hate to be in Ole Miss's shoes right now. I'm not sure they'll be able to outrecruit AAC schools for the unforseeable future.
