How long has it been

since the game plan was to establish the run, and it actually worked! No matter how bad the opponent, I can't remember the last time we came out planning to run the ball down somebody's throat and moved the ball like this. Those first two drives were impressive, and the Noles were pretty much unstoppable the rest of the half (except when we stopped ourselves with penalties and dropped passes).

Jimbo really played to the team's strength and then, with the game in hand, went ahead and used the rest of the game as passing practice. He kept Golson in the game slinging the ball around well into the 4th quarter, and didn't care who might call it running up the score. We needed the practice and he took the opportunity. He did, though, show Texas St. a little mercy, going for the FG on 4th and 1 there are the end of the game, when one more handoff to Patrick would have sent the score over 60. And, then, he didn't want to deny Aquayo the chance to get in on the fun.

But, really, how long has it been? I know there really wasn't any need to try to establish the run these last two years, but I can't remember any game in Jimbo's tenure where we've lined up to assert our will in the running game and succeeded in moving it with this kind of consistency. And it certainly didn't happen during the Lost Decade. I remember one game against Florida in the mid 90s, but that was something like 20 years ago!

Can anybody remember?
