How opting in works

Thought this article on JMU opting in to the House settlement helps explain it better.

I did not realize that opting in applies to the past damages. I thought all had to do that but I guess they don’t. I’m not sure how that impacts players from schools who have past damages claims. Are they left out? Can they then sue the schools on their own?

And I didn’t realize that opting in does not require a school to do rev share. It makes sense though.
