According to the Hollywood Reporter, Anthony Bourdain was only worth $1.2 million. That seems shockingly low for how famous he was. Sean Hannity gets paid $36 million a year and he’s not a real journalist just an “editorialist” who states his bloated opinion about actual news stories. How did someone who actually travels and uncovered real stories (remember Bourdain was someone Putin’s main political antagonist in Russia was with last before he was murdered) and is at least nationally famous if not internationally worth only $1.2 million for his estate? I’m sure half the people here have an ESTATE worth that much.

Probably never made THAT much money over a long period of time. Divorced once after a 20 year marriage, so there goes a huge chunk of whatever he had. Add taxes, and maybe undisciplined spending and gifting, and maybe some poor investments, and, boom, say hello to an unremarkable estate.

You don’t necessarily need a career salary equalling a million to have an estate (which includes property and assets you own) worth a mil. With typical retirement interest and a typical retirement age of 65, someone who started at 45 only needs to set aside about $15k a year. And if you start saving sooner at 35 it’s only $2,500 a year.

Now obviously I get that Bourdain is not the type to be smart enough to start saving by 35, BUT he had to have earned a minimum of a mil a year for all of his books and tv shows. If not he has the worst agent EVER.

So here’s an article from before his death.

“Before he was a multi-hyphenate career man — a chef-writer-TV show host — Anthony Bourdainwas just a struggling chef. He was, self-admittedly, terrible with money. In an interview with Wealthsimple, Bourdain detailed his financial screw-ups: He didn't open his first savings account until he was 44. And that same year marked a decade since he'd last filed taxes. He spent a lot of his measly income on weed, and constantly owed something to someone.

Bourdain's biggest risk — leaving his job as a chef to become a TV personality and writer — paid off. So Bourdain took the opportunity to pay off his old debts, to Amex, to the IRS. His book deals aren't insanely lucrative; it's the signings and events that come with big paychecks. And his on-screen career, of course.

No reliable sources have shared Bourdain's net worth, but most sites put it at around $16 million. The chef himself might have accidentally given the real number — or at least something close to it, away, though. "The reports of my net worth are about ten times overstated," he told Wealthsimple. "I think the people who calculate these things assume that I live a lot more sensibly than I do." Still, you've got to factor in Bourdain's work perks: Traveling around the world on CNN's dime — wouldn't you take a lower salary for an opportunity like that?“

So I guess the answer to his shockingly low estate value is 1) He was terrible at spending money and 2) he had a TERRIBLE agent. As famous as he was, his agent (and him) did NOT take advantage of his celebrity status. Heck I bet the “Cash me outside” chick is worth more.

Is it possible for you to be more condescending or have a bigger ego; not to mention your addiction to add some sort of political bs into as many threads as possible.
Now obviously I get that Bourdain is not the type to be smart enough to start saving by 35 - Just curious but did you know the dude or were you his financial adviser?
"Sean Hannity gets paid $36 million a year and he’s not a real journalist just an “editorialist” who states his bloated opinion about actual news stories."
So this was the only guy you could find to make a comparison to.

Hello first strike attacker friend,

“Is it possible for you to be more condescending or have a bigger ego”. Yes, I can attempt to join the “super elite” due to purchasing a bigger boat.

“Just curious but did you know the dude or were you his financial adviser?” No, but when I was a 3L in law school I worked 20 hours a week for a mainly sports but also celebrity agency firm in NoVa. As a nube I wasn’t given high end clients to take care of, only new acts/rookies. And I would guess every single one of those D-listers had a bigger net worth than Anthony Bourdain who is an A-lister. That’s how I could guess the Cash Me Outside Chick had more money than Bourdain’s reported $1.2 million estate which is shockingly low.

“Is that the only guy you could make a comparison to?”

No, but he’s rightfully a giant target for ridicule and makes way more than he should for a less talented Glenn Beck.

We don’t know how his estate was valued. Is it $1.2 million liquid - that’s not surprising considering he was twice divorced. Writers make nothing on their first book deal. He didn’t slap his name on a million products and crappy restaurants. And pretty limited spoken word tours. Don’t know why people would think he had LR money

Again you miss the point. You stated the guy wasn't smart enough to start saving for retirement at 35; as if you have some special insight into how other people live or their IQ. It just shows how pathetic you are because you can't just make a comment or observation; instead you have to make a judgement. Kind of makes my case about you having self esteem issues; you have to put down others so you can feel better about yourself.
As far as Sean Hannity; who made you the person to decide how much someone else should make? I think the system is called capitalism and if you don't like it then you probably are living in the wrong country. Maybe you should move to Europe where all your family members would be like dukes or something and you could just live off them.
By the way check your own posts on first strike bs. I have no issue with you mentioning me in a post, you know something like how to merge. Just don't whine like a female dog when you get called out or someone does the same thing to you. My gosh you are whiny.
