these are some pretty compelling videos showing the refs in cahoots with NE

I don’t think there’s an inherent bias for the Patriots in particular as an organization. I do think there’s ALWAYS regardless of sport an inherent bias for the champion, favorite, and “usual suspects”. Ie the old boxing and MMA motto of “To BE the champ, you must BEAT the champ.” Any call that is 50-50 or even 60-40 is always going to go to the champ, the favorite or the old guard “usual suspect”. Some nube is not going to pull a 10-9 round out of Floyd Mayweather unless it should really be 10-8 and is a beatdown, no Tickytack fouls are going to be called on Duke Basketball it’s got to be open and obvious, and no one is getting help against the Patsies.

With the notable exception being FSU football. See:

This makes sense if the rules explained in the explanation is correct.

Like DFS mentioned, for this to truly be the league and Brady signaling to one another to secretly reset the play clock, that would be beyond crazy.

I know it's a crazy thought, but I think if they were in cahoots they'd come up with something clever enough that it wouldn't get noticed by some drunk guy watching games on Sunday Ticket.

Give me some examples

If this is the case (and I assume it is), there should be plenty of evidence of other teams having the play clock reset.

I remember refs allowing kids that clearly didn’t make weight play anyways during the ole Miracle Strip Bowl days in PCB.

My thought is, if this is really a thing, then wouldn't the media of any sort be all over this? Haven't journalists won pulitzers for bringing stuff like this to light?

Yeah, but people have put together youtube videos and all. And if those are enough to get Carlsbad to believe the earth is flat, this isn't a giant leap.

I only watched the second video but i don't think they start the play clock right when the player goes out of bounds. I always thought when the ball is set to play, the offense is given 25 seconds? It all just seems nonsense to me. To think the other teams (especially Pittsburg Stealers) are just going to sit by while Brady signals to some unknown person to reset the game clock is just ridiculous. People just have to face it, The Pats are just that good.

The videos were a little over the top, and of course there is a reasonable explanation.

But I will say New England got some very lucky calls and non calls last night.

Regardless of those calls. You can’t have a delay of game in 3 and 7 with less than 2 minutes in half, that’s something Tom and company wouldn’t let happen.

You also can’t give up the 3 and 18 conversation for a first down.

Keep those plays from happening and Jags would be heading to super bowl.

The AJ Bouye pass interference call at the end of the game was bs and indicative of the problem with NFL referees - they are, generally, not in the best of shape nor the most spry. I saw an article calling for the NFL to replace the refs with ones that in better shape.

You talking about the one at the end of the half? The ref was right where he needed to be to make that call.

He was in position to make call, but it was a bad call after watching replay. I can see how it looked to be interface, but that’s only because it was played perfectly.

Not the best view, but it’s simply two guys bring physical while running down field. I don’t see a hold or push anywhere...just physical play.

I didn't think the officiating was that bad. The PI was debatable, but I think a lot more teams than the Patriots get that call. And the Jack fumble return probably should have been a TD, but that was a crazy play and in real time I can certainly understand how that was missed.

The DB initiates the contact and rides the WR out of bounds. Like I said in the game thread yesterday, switch the uniforms and Jag fans would be calling for a flag.

I thought that one could go either way, but I don't understand why people think it was so obvious that they think there is a conspiracy. At best it was debatable.

I'm pretty sure that how you are supposed to play DB. Get the WR on your hip and ride him out of bounds.

But there is a fine line to that. The NFL is clear that down the field contact will be called, and has been for about a decade or so now. Personally, I think it is a debatable call, but I don't think it is so obvious that is reaches conspiracy levels.

Yup!

And blowing a play dead on a questionable fumble are bad calls as well.

There are two obvious PI non calls for NE and one hold against Telvin Smith on the 3rd and Long that sealed the game.

It was the worst officiated game I can ever remember, and they all happened to go in favor of NE.

There are questionable calls every game, and always will be. Football is too fast and too physical to get everything exactly right. But, none of these calls were that terrible. You can make a case all of them were correct, and probably make a case they were incorrect. Even the Jack recovery, if not blown down, would have been reviewed and it is possible they would say he was down by contact. He clearly was in contact with Lewis when they were going to the ground, so it would have had to have to been determined if there was contact when he actually took possession of the ball.

Totally agree, (not with the Jack fumble though, he wasn’t touched at all while down, and only went down going for the ball).

Nonetheless, those types of bad calls are made every game or at least every Sunday during someone’s game.

The thing that is different here is that the Jags never had one questionable call go their way, and didn’t get obvious penalties made against them called at all. NE had 1 penalty callled against them. In a game where you call the “questionable” ones against one team, you have to do the same going the other way....that’s the frustrating part of it to me. There was no balance whatsoever.

Lowest amount of penalties called against a team in the playoffs since 2011. Think about that, all those questionable calls that were being made, but the refs only called one against NE...lowest in 7 years for all playoff games.

Conspiracy or no conspiracy, that’s just not right.

But he didn't get him on his hip. He was facing him and his right arm wrapped in front of the receiver and that's what drove him to the sideline. Had he turned to find the ball earlier, the call might not have been made.
