Somehow I got on the mailing list of something called Police Auctions. Probably named it that way so people are conned into thinking they are items confiscated by the police in some raid or another. Anyway, a sample of the items offered for bid is some dinky little silver ingot. Weighs I ounce. But wait! it says 'silver clad". Contains 1 whole gram of pure silver. Now I believe one ounce contains about 28.5 grams, so one gram is about 3.5% of an ounce.
Silver is trading for a little under $16 an ounce, so you get about 56 cents worth of silver. And add to this the "very reasonable shipping and handling" costs of $8.95 and I would get 56 cents worth of silver for what ever I bid plus $8.95. And right now there is such an item with a bid of $4.00. Such a deal!
