Coach spoke at a local school this morning.
I'm friends with the person that set it up so I got to talk with him some.
He is getting older for sure, but his mind is clear, and he delivered a succinct message.
He told the kids that faith, family, and education, in that order are the most important things in their lives.
Coach signed yearbooks and footballs until every single person that wanted his autograph got it.
I understand that I am in the complete minority on this board, but for the life of me, cannot believe the crap coming from so many of you "fans".
I disagree with what Dot had to say about the situation, but at least Dot did it in a respectful way. Its ok to disagree with one another.
So many of you either have forgotten, or never understood what coach did for FSU. You have forgotten that his candor sometimes made you cringe "Warsaw Rules" and sometimes it made you laugh "if my quarterback had thrown the ball he'd of hit me".
I was one of the staunchest supporters of Winston on these boards and in public over the past few years. I read all the reports, and while I do not believe he raped the girl, I thought he and his roommates treatment of her was embarrassing. I do not hold her harmless.
I do think that his "hookup" of crab legs was embarrassing. I do think his vulgar immature outburst about women was embarrassing.
I also think that the media's coverage of Winston was embarrassing and unfair.
You can believe both things.
So, I agree with Coach Bowden. He has always said what he thinks, and that is ok with me.
