So when I first saw Texas State on the schedule I was wondering why we were opening with an FCS school again. I talked to my friends about how it was going to be another 77-0 game that we would learn nothing from. But Texas State is not an FCS school. They are an FBS school that went 7-5 last year and had the 25th ranked offense in the ENTIRE FBS. So they are like UNC or Pitt or Boston College. Now if we beat any of those teams 59-16 with over 650 yards of offense and only 300 yards given up on defense we would all be happy. I am not saying that Texas State is some juggernaut. But there are also not Wofford, or Samford, or Florida A&M. We beat a bowl-eligible FBS team by 43 points. That's pretty damn good.
Oh and one more thing. We beat the Citadel last year 37-12. The Citadel was a 5-7 FCS school. We had 494 yards of offense and gave up 322 yards to an offense that finished ranked 30th in the FCS. Let that sink in guys and gals. Just looking at that has to make you feel good about that game.
