my in laws have a rental house and the previous tenants abandoned the place. We were going through it today and discovered they had abandoned two motorized wheel chairs. They seem like they are in good condition. I'm going to take them down to the scooter store and see what they need to get up and running and then scooter races at my house. I can hardly wait.

Make sure you upgrade the battery.

I'm sure those abandoned chairs are the result of a policy decision of either an insurance company, Medicare or Medicaid. In my mom's final year or so, her mobility issues became much worse. She'd had one of those things for a number of years & really liked it, but it started having issues needing minor repairs. My dad stayed consistently pissed that their Medicare supplemental policy would not pay for these minor repairs ($75 to $100 bucks), but they would gladly pay to purchase a new chair for prices ranging from $1000 to $4500.
