Some pretty strong evidence that, by the numbers, the issues were more in the secondary than with the pass rush. Some eye opening points -
Opposing QBs averaged 7.7 yards per attempt when not under pressure in 2014, up from 5.5 the previous year.
Opposing QBs threw 19 touchdowns and just eight interceptions when not under pressure in 2014. A year earlier, those numbers were a terrific 10 TDs and 19 INTs the previous season.
Opposing QBs had just eight completions of 30 yards or more in 2013 when not under pressure. In 2014, they had 18 -- more than any other ACC school except North Carolina.
All this begs the question, why did the secondary under perform so badly with two high NFL players and Jalen Ramsey?
