Homewood suites 1201 Kings avenue, anyone have any advice?

I'm taking 6 boys to a basketball camp and this seems to be a good option because we can get a big suite. I'm the only adult so I don't want anybody in a separate room.

Our camp is at the Jax ice sportsplex if that helps for an alternative recommendation

When I have to stay overnight in Jax for work I always stay at the Baymeadows Embassy Suites.

If that sports complex is at I95 and Emerson the Kings Ave location is about a 10 minute drive at most. Not hard to get to

Hopefully you're staying inside the complex during the day. That is a CRAPPY place to try to go to lunch, etc. Unless you like going to lunch at strip clubs. I know because I worked literally across the parking lot from there for about 5 years. Plan on heading toward JTB or riverside, etc. if you do need to go out.

The immediate area surrounding the Sports complex is not very nice and yeah I wouldn't hang out or eat around there. You are right next to 95 so pretty close with easy access to JTB to hit the Town Center, Baymeadows exit to eat. Dave and Busters is right off JTB for some entertainment the kids may like.

I have heard the Homewood Suites are nice, but the Kings Ave ones. There were some on Baymeadows that I think are now the Hawthorn Suites that I heard were nice and it is right next to 95 also. Kings Ave I think is closer to San Marco Area rather than next to the complex, so that is good. I thought I saw there was a Homewood Suites near the town center, so those may be nicer and closer to more restaurants, etc.

When were you there? That hotel is a 5 minute walk from a Hurricanes wings, Jersey Mikes subs, Jimmy John's, and all of the places in San Marco including Maple Street Biscuits which is awesome. If you couldn't find lunch near that hotel, you're not looking very hard.

I think Bart may have been talking about the sports complex on Emerson not the hotel. Emerson area not real nice place to walk around or eat.

We'd be at the sports complex from 9-3 daily so I was more concerned about the activities/eats around the hotel

So you WILL be staying at the complex during the day.

Right there in my first sentence... @GamedayNole :)

Lot of restaurant options close by that hotel in San Marco. Relatively speaking, it is safe around there. Just don't spend too much time around Emerson and Philips Highway :)
