Heard a guy on Dan Patrick's show this morning from Pro Football Talk. He said that the Bucs may have concerns with Jameis' release and immaturity issues.
And he said ESPN has a done a tremendous job of hyping this draft with suspense. But he said the #1 reason Winston will go #1 is because of "Florida State's Pro Style Offense". PERIOD!!! He said Jimbo's offense simply prepares QBs and Wrs for the professional game. He said that Winston can play from under center turning his back to the defense. Winston had to call his own plays, checking down, changing plays., reading the safties & blitzes. Winston is also proficient playing from under center with play action even if the running game isn't working.
He said that Mariotta was a good kid but fans simply don't understand something. The professional game is much faster than college and the windows to throw in are much smaller. He said Mariotta hardly ever checked out of plays. That the Oregon coaching staff called audibles for him. The quick pace of the spread really doesn't force a QB to read defenses because the coaches are doing it form the sidelines. He said that Mariotta "could possibly" learn how to run a pro offense but JW has proven he knows how to run a pro set offense. His only adjustments will be timing, foot work, his release and learning the speed of the pro game. Don't expect any surprises Saturday.
Personally I believe Mariotta will be out of the league working for ESPN or back at Oregon in 5 years.
