I know my tastes in movies are far from the norm, but...........

I remember a thread on this movie when it came out, but can't remember if it was good or not.

Granted I've only seen it once, but I found it disturbingly great (on more than one level). However, even though I know it's a metaphor for his failed marriage, the whole scene after his wife and daughter were taken I found unrealistic. He's alone in the car with one of the perp's and then to not only drive past where his wife and daughter are, but on down some dead end dirt road. No something way would I (and hopefully anyone else) would allow that, at that point he had to know whatever is going on is terrible so if it was just the perp and I then a fight to the death is on. Yea, he might take me.....but at least I go down fighting and that's far better than not doing nothing.

I don't remember a thread on this one, but this is a GREAT movie and by far Chris Pine's best work. The ending scene, no spoilers, was great between Pine and Bridges..........the tension was extremely palpable.

Actually watched Nocturnal Animals yesterday.

Yeah, I'm with you. I see not fighting back up to a point, but when he sees his car and keeps driving. At that point you fight back (and possibly lose) but to just keep going after the girls have been separated from you....nope.

Both of those have been on HBO/Showtime a lot lately. Really enjoyed Hell or High Water.

Nocturnal Animals was a mind messer, but pretty good. The presentation, metaphors, etc, were well done.

Normally I'm up on movies but I haven't seen either. I'll have to check it out.

Hell or High Water was great. Bridges always delivers. The old lady waitress in the restaurant steals that scene.

She was funny in No Country for Old Men as well. She was the receptionist at the first hotel and gets upset that Josh Brolin requests a room that has two double beds. She was certainly more memorable in Hell or High Water, though.

Ha...didn't know it was the same woman.

Thought it was a great movie, Pine was able to beat his typecasting as Kirk and Bridges was excellent.

Never rob a bank in Texas is the lesson of this movie!

Bridges was in another movie that may have flown under the radar called Crazy Heart. Similar setting in terms of feel and look. Bridges has always been one of my favorite "underrated" stars going all the way back to "The Fisher King" and "White Squall".

2 days after I first saw this thread, I saw Nocturnal Animals was on so watched it. It was late at night, I was tired <so maybe I missed some of the finer details>. Thought it was okay but agree with some of the above, he needed to sack up. <-- think thats what irked me the most about the movie, he was so weak.

The ending was meh. I went online to see what I missed.
****spoiler alert ****
Oh, I guess he really showed her by standing her up. Ouch. I thought the endiing was kind of meh.

Ever see Tucker? That was a good flick too.

I liked a lot about Nocturnal Animals, but didn't really dig the resolution/ending...or lack thereof.

Hell or High Water was excellent. If you liked that, you also might like the director's next feature, Wind River. It's in theaters now. I saw it last week and it's strong stuff.
