I think we can all look at the affidavit and see how Cook can be acquitted, but that is just one of the questions that Jimbo and our admin have to answer with that situation and the other ones aren't so easy.

Does the affidavit and the witness statements support the girl's allegation that she got punched?

Does the affidavit and the witness statements support the girl's allegation that it was one of our players who punched her?

I know it's hard to be objective here, but if the answer to the above two questions is no, then we are saying that the two girls called the police and lied to them, that another witness issued a sworn statement in which he also lied to police, and that the girl must have fell down and split her lip. Somehow I don't see that explanation being bought off on by the national press.

If the answer to the above two questions is yes, then how does our admin handle the situation? Can we really say it is OK that someone on our team punched the girl but we didn't get caught so we really can't do anything about it? Remember, we have players who told the police they were there and that there was a verbal altercation. If someone else had punched the girl or if they saw her fall down on her own, they could have just said so.

These are two questions that there wont be a trial to determine. This is what Jimbo and our admin are now facing with a negative media waiting to pounce.
