I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere this far. Has anyone considered that Jimbo is the reason why our defensive scheme becomes too passive, at times? This rush 3 or 4 and drop everyone else into coverage thing has been a staple of our defense since he took over as HC. The one season we played more aggressively was with Pruitt and he bolted after 1 season of working under Fisher. Now the rumored reasons for Pruitt's departure are varied but I do recall the two butting heads on the sidelines a few times. Jimbo has a very balanced philosophy and, as we have all witnessed, he tends to get a little too conservative when playing with the lead. I don't think it's any coincidence that he hires Lawing, whose mantra is effecting the QB with 4 rushers. Kelly will get heat because he's got the DC title but I think we need to realize that Jimbo is a big part of why this defense can look so vanilla. The defense Kelly ran at Ga Tech was way more aggressive.
