Four of us are flying down to Tampa to see Chesney in April and are looking for hotel recommendations (2 married couples/Mid 30s). We want to be on the beach and are hoping to uber to and from the concert. None of us are familiar with the area. Any suggestions are appreciated.

There's not really any beach area in Tampa; if you want beach you'll have to cross the bay to either Clearwater or St Pete. Certainly doable, but the transportation costs won't be cheap.

This. A compromise in between might be Rocky Point. That puts you 10min from RayJay, 20-25 from Clearwater beach and kind of on the water (not really the beach). There are 4-5 hotels in that area ranging from pretty expensive to not bad and there are a couple places that have "beach bars" so you can get that vibe.

You need to decide what you are doing while in the Tampa Bay area. If you are dead set on a beach room, and are only leaving the beach for the concert, then Uber might be the best option. But if you think you might go to Ybor City, Busch Gardens, Downtown St. Pete, Mons Venus, etc., then renting a vehicle might be a better idea. Take turns being the DD.

We are flying into St. Pete/Clearwater and really want to spend some time on the beach. Given that, which beach is better, St. Pete or Clearwater? Thanks again for all the info.

Both beaches have advantages. But if you want to drink on the beach, Treasure Island and Madeira Beach are your only options (unless you want to use sneaky methods).

This'll get me shouted down by the snobs on here, but......if you are only using the room for sleeping The Bilmar on Treasure island is a good option. Right on the beach, you can get a room where you can walk right out the slider to the beach. A Publix in walking distance. A Sloppy Joe's on property so you can get souvenirs before going to eat somewhere else. Easy in/out access to the mainland. Plus the VIP Lounge across the street, for the local flavor. Johns Pass down the street for tourist stuff. I think they let you borrow bikes too.

Cant help with the hotel but me and two others will be at this concert in the sandbar. So stoked!

Went to his Brothers of the Sun tour with Tim McGraw at Raymond James and had a blast. Love me some Kenny. :p

How many nights are you staying? We usually rent a condo for a week on Redington Beach. It's a pretty straight shot to 275 into Tampa. St. Pete Beach has more beach bars, Madeira has more riff raff, Redington is nice for families, Clearwater kind of has all of these qualities.

Ah, Madeira Beach and the red barn. Wal mart clientele but man, that brings back some good memories

Pix of the wives would help us recommend something that might be more in line with their tastes. Blind recommendations are frequently flawed. Please help us help you.
