It has been confirmed that Keyante Johnsons collapse was caused by Covid related Myocarditis.

How many basketball opt outs do you think we will see in the coming days. With coaches already saying they are not sure we should even be playing I have to wonder if this season is also in jeopardy. One would have to think our players that saw this 1st hand will be effected.

thats not exactly what the article says. An anonymous person stated that he had myocarditis. It says that it might be COVID related, but that there are many causes to Myocarditis. It may have very well been related. I’m just saying that it isn’t a definite according to the article.

Sad situation. Very happy for Keyontae and his family that he has been released from the hospital and is on his way to fully recovering.
Makes me think of Michael Ojo. Supposedly, he also had Covid-19 weeks before his heart attack. I never read anything further linking Covid with his heart attack. Very young age to have heart problems.

Well considering florida athletics test for this on a weekly basis and the Orlando sentinel did a story on it back in late October I’m suprised by this also his family cant be happy someone leaked things that aren’t a 100 percent to the media

Will the guys who tested positive for COVID previously cease all exercise? I’d like to know if UF cleared him from a cardiology perspective. He’s actually lucky he was playing college basketball in an arena with medical support.
Cancel the season and he’s playing hoops in the rec center and he’s dead.

Of course every death and life threatening incident will be COVID related. That's just how it goes these days.

Yes they had cleared him.

No wonder the Governor here in California where I live closed the gyms down. He didn’t want me to be able to continue to work out because I may suffer a heart attack due to covid. Problem is due to not being blue to work out the past 10 months I’ve gained 40 lbs, my blood press has gone up, and now I’m at risk for stroke and heart attack. Ugh, what’s the answer?

I suggest the answer is to stop complaining about not being able to go inside to work out anaerobically and go outside and work out aerobically. Especially if weight loss is your objective. Jogging, biking, walking, hiking, etc. have never been banned in California. Your weight gain seems to be due to self-imposed inactivity, not government restriction. Good luck. Might want to take a daily baby aspirin and statin as well until the weight comes off.

How about go walking, bike riding, or hiking...

This post should be deleted, it’s not what the article says at all. It’s pure speculation.

Per the article:
“ While Johnson’s acute myocarditis can’t be definitively linked to his COVID diagnosis”

Btw, has he or the university released that he had covid? Last I saw his family didn’t even know if he did have it and I haven’t really seen schools releasing lists of people who tested positive.

I don’t think confirmed means what you think it means.

Ummmm, both my mom and dad passed within the last twelve months, dad only several weeks ago, neither of their cause of death on their respective death certificates were Covid related...so perhaps you shouldn’t assume “every” death will be somehow linked to this disease, that’s simply patently untrue. Perhaps hyperbole on your part, but people on this board have had loved ones who have passed this year...perhaps a little compassion. Happy Holidays, and all my best to your family for a happy and healthy 2021.

Maybe not eat as much?

Exercise at home and go on a diet?

No need for logic on here...

USA Today rag without any conclusive evidence and no real journalist digging and research has decided to do what they do best Fake it up And try to start a riot so they have more BS to throw gas on.

You do realize that Covid might not be what caused his myocarditis. Myocarditis can be cause by more than a dozen things in young males. Google is your friend!!! If we are not going to play because of the fear of myocarditis then cancel all sports, cause there is no way you are going to eliminate getting it. I’m surprised it does not happen more. Once you Google cause of myocarditis you will be shocked, I was!!!
Whoever cleared him to play is who you should focus on. Not on athletics as a whole.

300,000 families agree (including mine). 20k just this week... No biggie
Only 6% of reported Covid deaths died only of Covid, the rest had other contributing issues. Yes it's a biggie and no one is making light of deaths but the numbers are bogus and include people who died in car accidents and gunshots......but they did test positive for Covid so.

The numbers are not exaggerated or bogus. What you are saying would be properly described as propaganda. About half a million more people have died this year then last year. Because of Covid the life expectancy in America is going to go down 3 to 4 years. This is unprecedented. Probably 50 percent of Americans have some sort of co morbidity. Most could live another 10, 20 or 30 years with their co morbidity, but when they got Covid they died. There may be errors but they are statistically insignificant. There are more people that died from Covid where it was not listed as the cause of death then were attributed to Covid in error.

When I googled the cause of myocarditis, the first thing that came up is that it could be caused by a virus. Maybe google works different for me.

Nope dead on. You cannot refute the excess death numbers or the likely drop in American life expectancy. People's agenda driven desire to minimize this virus is tiresome. This is the only social media I am on. I read my news and I get it from multiple sources. I do not search out alt right sources which I believe others on here do to get their information. However I read all legitimate information.
