Florida State’s Ismael Kone and Jeremiah Davis were named Men’s ACC Track & Field Runner and Field Performers of the week after outstanding outings at the Texas Invitational in Austin this weekend. Kone ran the third fastest 100 meter in the country and Davis swept the long and triple jumps in FSU’s final regular season meet.
“It’s fantastic to sweep the men’s ACC performer of the week honors,” FSU coach Bob Braman said. “I’m really pleased for Ishmael. He’s been working hard to get that magical sub 10.00 level, and Jeremiah is just great every time out. He’s just as consistent as it gets.”
FSU’s next competition will be at the ACC Outdoor Championships May 11-13 at NC State.
Men’s Track Performer of the Week
Ismael Kone, Florida State
Kone posted a winning time of 9.98 in the men’s 100-meter dash at the Texas Relays that ranks third nationally, ties for sixth fastest in FSU history and is the fastest since 2018 for a Seminole. He added a time of 20.37 in the 200 meters that currently ranks 16th in the nation and is the 10th fastest in FSU history.

Jeremiah Davis, Florida State
Davis continued his banner season by snaring two more gold medals in the triple jump and long jump at the Texas Relays. The LeHigh Acres, Florida native again exceeded eight meters in the long jump at 8.02 (26-3.75) and added a winning triple jump of 16.01 meters (52-6.5). His winning long jump distance is the fifth-longest in school history.

Duke 4×400 Relay Team
Duke’s relay team of freshmen Julia Jackson and Lauren Tolbert, graduate student Madison Mulder and sophomore Megan McGinnis turned in a historic performance with a blistering ACC and school-record time of 3:27.14 at the Penn Relays. Currently No. 6 nationally, the race featured individual splits of 53.07 (Jackson), 52.05 (Tolbert), 51.85 (Mulder) and 50.19 (McGinnis) seconds. Duke’s time upended the former 17-year-old conference record set by Miami (3:27.85) in 2006, while edging out the program’s previous fastest time of 3:28.27 that was registered at the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Championships.

Ilse Steigenga, Pitt
Victoria Gorlova, Virginia Tech
Steigenga captured the women’s long jump at the Penn Relays with a distance of 6.47 meters (21-2.75) that ranks 11th nationally this season and ties for the second-longest in Pitt program history.
Virginia Tech’s Gorlova ranks first in the ACC and 12th in the NCAA following her outdoor personal best mark of 13.54 meters (44-5.25) that ranks 12th nationally, first in the ACC and second in school history. She added a mark of 6.04 meters (19-9.75) in the long jump competition that stands as her season’s best.
