They had people standing in line begging for a franchise. Then the bottom fell out, mainly because word was being spread how bad those donuts were for you. But they are still around. Every now and then somebody looking for my employer's business. I wish they wouldn't.
It was a bit of both. There will always be a market for sweet foods that are terrible for you. But the younger generations are not flocking to donuts the way we did before and do have a higher demand for healthier options. You combine that with their overly aggressive expansion and it lead to this.You must work for Dublin Donuts.
The bottom fell out because they were way too aggressive with their expansion plans as well as their unrealistic expectations (fees) of the corporationfrom their franchisees, not because their product is unhealthy. America is the master of obesity.

The other thing they didn't expect was the boom of the cupcake market which takes a lot of people who are fine with eating unhealthy food, but like them a bit more "gourmet".
