LATE REPORT

Quite a few things came out of our session with Jimbo Fisher. Here's the rundown:

OL Corey Martinez will start at center. As will OL Brock Ruble at right tackle. The offensive will likely consist of Roderick Johnson, Kareem Are, Martinez, Wilson Bell and Ruble. Martinez and Alec Eberle each took first team snaps during Thursday's walkthrough but Fisher said it will indeed be Martinez who starts. Fisher said he's felt very comfortable with both guys but with Eberle had a "situation that set him back" but bounced back well. "We just felt Martinez had a few more days of practice with the game plan." As for whether Eberle plays, Fisher said, "We'll wait and see."

As for Ruble, Fisher said he was pleased with how Ruble emerged. Remember, Ruble was a second team selection until Derrick Kelly missed some time. Ruble began filling in and Kelly was virtually locked out of taking first team snaps at right tackle.

Fisher said DB Trey Marshall will probably be the starter in the star role. He said FSU feels comfortable with Marshall and Tyler Hunter in the position. When it comes to Marshall he said, "He's fast, he's strong, he's athletic. He's gotta lot of pop when he hits you."

As for injuries, Jimbo listed the following: OL Abdul Bello, DE Lorenzo Featherston, DB Marcus Lewis, OL Chad Mavety, OL Cole Minshew and WR Nyqwan Murray. He did say that DB Ryan Green is out for the season with a shoulder injury. Green's injury news came earlier the week with Fisher saying it was likely he was out for the year.

EARLY REPORT

Florida State is two days away from its season opener against Texas State and there was more of a structured atmosphere compared to other days. Thursday is a walkthrough day, meaning the players are in shorts and shoulder pads instead of a normal practice day where everyone is in full pads. Now here's the news for the early update:

There's work being done when it comes to Jalen Ramsey and his jersey on kickoff returns. With Ramsey and WR Kermit Whitfield each wearing No. 8, something had to be done to be in compliance with the rules. FSU simulated the amount of time it would take for Ramsey to go through a jersey change before and after the return. Ramsey was not wearing a number and FSU is still trying to figure out what number he'll wear on special teams.

When it comes to offensive line there's still a bit of intrigue. Both Alec Eberle and Corey Martinez took first team snaps with at center. Instead of switching the two out, Martinez took snaps with Roderick Johnson and Kareem Are. Eberle took snaps with Wilson Bell and Brock Ruble.

Tight ends coach Tim Brewster was really specific with the tight ends on their blocking assignments. If a player had any hesitancy about where to be, Brewster was more than willing to provide a reminder or two.

Defensive tackles coach Odell Haggins had players go through the chute drill a second time if it was not to his liking. Haggins was really straightforward about what he wanted. He told his group ,"I don't want you to shuffle your feet. I want them to sound like a typewriter."

WR Nyqwan Murray still had his hand in a cast. So did DB Nate Andrews. Both still participated in the walkthrough. OL Cole Minshew was held out while DB Marcus Lewis was still on crutches.

LB Matthew Thomas was around the team at practice again this week. Thomas is ineligible for the season yet has been around the team all week.

Here's your Tweet of the Day:

We're slated to speak with Jimbo sometime close to 6 p.m. Until then. Goodbye for now.
