FSU sports information:
Florida State women’s basketball players Ta’Niya Latson and Makayla Timpson were named to the Naismith Women’s Player of the Year Watch List on Monday.
Florida State was one 13 schools to have multiple players on the list, and one of three from the ACC.
The list recognizes the top 50 players in the nation to watch. The organization also releases a list of 30 midseason candidates. A national voting academy of leading basketball coaches, administrators and journalists narrows the group down to four finalists based on player performance throughout the season. The final four Naismith finalists will make up the ballot and the player of the year is voted on by the group.
Latson was also a part of the list as a sophomore in 2023-24. Both Timpson and Latson were selected to the Preseason All-ACC Team for the second time in their careers ahead of this season.
Florida State will welcome West Florida for an exhibition game on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Admission is free.
The Associated Press released its preseason poll on Oct. 15, with FSU ranked 19th. The Seminoles also appeared at No. 19 in the USA Today Sports Coaches Poll, that was released on Oct. 24.
Single game tickets are now on sale at the FSU Ticket office.
