LR Opinion on Personal Space

Curious how folks feel about personal space, don't mean like your office cube, or at a bar. I am talking about waiting in line somewhere like a 7-11, or people talking to you at an outdoor event. I ask because the other day getting a monster I was waiting in a very long line at the local convenience store. A dude with a couple of friends literally pushes me out of the way to grab a hot dog, then after his buddy says hey man say excuse me to him he says excuse me, then he does it again and afterwards says oh excuse me. Dude was flat out wasted, so much so you could smell it on him, sunglasses on inside and it was dark. I really don't like people I don't know within arms reach of me; call what you want but I prefer some stand off. So what are LR opinions; especially curious what women think.

Not a woman, but I'll opine.

We've all been at that point of drunk in public, likely what was happening here. Can either be the "bro" about it and laugh it off or be the elder statesman and give local PD a head's up about possible DUI headed out on to the streets.

Could also just be that you had a rough day and it got you more Ranger-tated than normal.

LockerRoom wants to know though... did you follow them to the next stop and open it up on them?

The name's Francis Sawyer, but everybody calls me Ranger. Any of you guys call me Francis, and I'll kill you. And I don't like nobody touching my stuff. So just keep your meat-hooks off. If I catch any of you guys in my stuff, I'll kill you. Also, I don't like nobody touching me. Now, any of you homos touch me, and I'll kill you.

Just kidding, Ranger. I like space too. I try to avoid close talkers.

I like the arm’s length rule as well. In your scenario I’d give concession for a drunk dude going after a hot dog because he’s drunk and doesn’t know what he’s doing.

If it were just a regular dude standing behind me in line uncomfortably close I’d put my hands on my hips, poke out my elbows, and twist to stretch my back.

My biggest worry would be the havoc Monster Energy Drinks are wreaking on your body.

Love the jokes. I pretty much left the dude alone, his friends were trying to control him; but when I say wasted I was shocked he was capable of standing. He eventually walked out in part because I am sure standing was an issue. As far as monster I am on the "ine" diet - caffeine, nicotine and protein.

And also

I hate the close talker.....

It gets confusing. I can understand standing 5 or 10 feet back from someone at a ATM but don't get leaving a buffer zone at a convenience store. Unless you are in Miami of course.

was it a mistaken stumble or a push? one of those need to be corrected drunk or not.

I got to the part about "the other day getting a monster I was waiting in a very long line at the local convenience store" and missed the point. My first impression was he popped a chub at the 7-11, and was too close to the nearest person. I could see where that would be quite awkward.

I’m watching for the marketing blitz as they roll out Rangerine 24 Hour energy drink. Keep a cooler stocked for those awkward social encounters...
Those things will be fired out of a grenade launcher directly into your pie hole. Ranger don't play around w/ low flow hydration techniques.

He essentially pushed me out the way by going to the hot dog thing. I wouldn't say he pushed me ; I agree if you physically push someone out of the way that is a different ting. It wasn't a drunk stumble he knew what he was doing and his buddy was like hey man say excuse me. The second time wasn't as blatant; but still IMO unacceptable. Oh well dude wasn't worth going to prison over and he was utterly trashed.

I do love all the advice on health from people who know nothing about my health status. I get a physical every 6 months, resting heart rate is 52 and honestly most people on this board wouldn't last 20 minutes into my daily workout. By the way I will be 52 this year.
Goldmom I dip don't smoke; neither is good and I am trying to quit. Hardest thing ever to give up.

Your RHR is good but not worth highlighting. Mental health advice may be worth taking.

Kind of funny; but you guys need to do better.

Hawkeye maybe what you say is true; trust me though I get more mental health evals and questions than you would ever want to deal with.

i enjoy the elevator shuffle as people get off. I purposely don't move and see how long it takes someone to move to the other side. 99% of the time people move.
