Unusual announcement at such a scale. But throw it out.

“CDC told consumers to throw away any romaine lettuce they may already have purchased. Restaurants should not serve it, stores should not sell it, and people should not buy it, no matter where or when the lettuce was grown. It doesn’t matter if it is chopped, whole head or part of a mix.

The unusually broad warning, issued just two days before Americans sit down for their Thanksgiving dinners, reflects the uncertainties about the origin and extent of the bacterial contamination. The CDC is not claiming that all romaine contains the dangerous bacteria — something the millions of people who have eaten the popular lettuce recently should bear in mind — but investigators don’t know precisely where, when or how the contamination happened.”

Seems so weird to have the whole country’s supply called into question. If they don’t know where the origin of the problem is how can they tell if it’s genuine threat.

How does the lettuce get contaminated? I was told that the pickers contaminate it by not cleaning after going #2, but dont know if that's really the case or horse pucky.

Seems odd. ALL romaine lettuce at risk. No identification of likely places of origin. Yet, it is limited to romaine lettuce. No other greens are implicated.

Some accuse me of being a conspiracy theorist, but I think spinach, kale, and swiss chard were tired of romaine getting the spotlight and engineered an attack on romaine. Throw it all out! This is the story of how the Green Wars begin.

Just the tip of the iceberg.

I'm sorry for not getting back to you sooner now that you're about to check out but the Taqueria across from the city hall in Defuniak is quality.
I'll hit it up when I'm up that way. If I can resist Ed's that is.

What's odd about this whole thing to me is that they decided to take such unprecedented action about this because it's Thanksgiving week...I don't know about the rest of you, but I've never in my life attended a Thanksgiving dinner where salad was featured. It's one of those times when one pigs out on the classics associated with the holiday...I've never seen anyone load up on salad when there's turkey, dressing, potatoes, etc. waiting to be had.

Yep. Lettuce isn't much of a Thanksgiving tradition. Now, if there had been an advisory to destroy all green beans, there would have been some green bean casserole loving Locker Roomers starting riots.

You could throw it out...or you could serve it to any friends and family you don't care for at Thanksgiving dinner.

I know a friend that when she eats romaine, it leads to a Beano double dose. "Girl Can't Help It!"

She sounds hideous...
Oh no. Not at all. She's actually smokin' hot despite this minor quirk. You just have to get it asap before the dinner meal begins to settle and take drift. You just can't allow yourself to get caught in the danger zone of downwind. Multiple candles help with the atmosphere (in more ways than one) as well....Bean dip is a definite no go. If discovered, abort, abort, abort....
