You may have heard that 7 airmen were killed on March 18th in Iraq. ( article here ). One of my best buddies was a PJ on the team with Pikey. they had his memorial and services here at Patrick AFB. I had my buddy stay with me, along with a few other PJs and pilots and one guy from the 5th SFG staying at my house. I opened it up tho them because with spring break going on hotels were hard to come by and the ones that were available were pretty expensive.
Either way, it's been an emotional few days with lots of booze. I didn't know the two PJ's that were killed well, I had only met Pikey once. It was good to see their community turn out so strong for them. There were probably about 200 PJs here and another 50 folks from the Special Operations community, and about 1000 people at the actual memorial service.
They told a lot of stories and the guy was clearly well loved, we consumed lots of booze in his honor. He left two young kids behind. If you're so inclined there is a go fund me page to donate for the kids.
