I bought a new laptop a couple of weeks ago and was getting around to purchasing Microsoft Office. I think that the Microsoft Office 2010 products I want to purchase are compatible with Windows 8.1, but also know that Microsoft Office 2013 has been released as well. Is it worth buying Office 2013 or should I just stick with Office 2010? Thanks.

2013 has more bells and whistles at a premium price. You can get 2010 for less. If like the rest of the LR money is no object, then get 2013. You will have support for a bit longer as well.

Do you have a work email address? Your company may have an agreement with Microsoft to allow you to purchase Office 2013 for $9.95.

Everything is going to software as a service. If you buy Office now it is licensed by the PC so you can't transfer it. Office 365 is the way to go because you get 5 copies that are transferable and it works on Ipad, Android, Windows, there is an online version, backup storage etc. Costco / Sams sells annual subscriptions for a better price too.
