The mistake I made last season was ever thinking our defense was anything other than what it showed itself to be all season. It was average, but we won anyway, so I made excuses and kept waiting for us to put it all together, it never happened. As well, our offense was turnover prone, but we won anyway. It was a tortuous but glorious fun season, but it's end reflected the truth of who we were in the game against Oregon, immensely talented but turnover prone with an average Defense.

This year, we are crazy young and crazy talented. Defense is very solid, especially against the run, but is still giving up the big passing plays on broken coverage a couple of times a game, more than good enough to win, but no good enough to carry a team and win a championship. Offense is a work in progress, has periodic confidence crisis's and can only show up for about a half of a football a game. This is all expected, are we improving and getting better, yes. Will it be enough by the time we play Clemson, just maybe. I just have a hard time believing this team can mature fast enough, remain turnover free, and play enough complete games to make the playoff. We are exactly who we appear to be, nothing more, nothing less. But I am still loving it, the future is bright. Go Noles
