Don't know if anyone watched the Bears-Broncos pre-season game, but I wanted to check it out to see how Trubisky did. He did not look bad. He looked really comfortable out there and made some plays that there's no way Glennon makes.

John Fox says the depth chart will not change after one preseason game. That's smart IMO. Yes Tribisky looked good but he was playing against (and with) players that will not be on either team once the regular season begins. What will be interesting is if he passes Mark Sanchez and moves up to #2.

The real takeaway for me is that Mike Glennon is the perfect example of what I would aspire to be in the NFL. Ie getting paid $14 mil a year with $18 mil guaranteed signing bonus to be a permanent backup and seldom hit. Some people would want to be a Brett Favre and be in pain their whole life for the fame and extra money. Me, I'd gladly be able to walk pain free and with most of my brain cells and then "struggle" to make it on only 8 figures.

I agree that people shouldn't be too quick to anoint him as the second coming, but it's still got to make quite an impression that Glennon starts the game with a pick 6, then Trubisky leads them on back to back scoring drives.

I didn't watch the game, but heard that Deshone Kizer also looked pretty good. I saw the one long pass he had. Would be nice to see some new good QBs in the league, instead of teams trying to recycle guys like Ryan Fitzpatrick and Brian Hoyer over and over.

I didn't watch the game either but have seen the highlights this morning. My takeaway on Glennon wasn't the horribleness the throw that lead to the pick six but rather the decision to throw into triple coverage in the first place. QB's will make bad throws. They can't afford such bad decisions and remain employed as a starter in the NFL.

I saw all I need in Glennon's short time as the Bucs starter to know that anyone who would offer him $18 million needs to be fired. He's not completely horrible, but he's not an NFL starter, either.

C'mon Everyone. The Bears coaches know less than I do. I quit on the Chi-Bruins when they wouldn't let the "Fridge" run the option.
Pretty sure the decision to take Trubinsky at # 2 was a front office move made with little input from Fox or any other coach.
As a lifelong fan I could cite a litany of boneheaded decisions of Bears management.
From drafting Grossman to mortgaging the future for a sporadic head case like Cutler to trading up in the draft for Trubinsky after spending 15 mil for Glennon it's become almost comical.
To say nothing of firing Lovie after going 10-6.
That organization is in a state of disarray and we are destined for the NFC Central cellar.
But hey Eddie Goldman looked pretty good.

Christian Jones has had a productive couple years too.

Until the McCaskey lady dies, the Bears will continue to be the worst ran organization in the league. Mitch may turn out to be a great QB but what they gave up to get him was ridiculous. Pace got played hard by SF

Virtually impossible to overpay for a great qb in the NFL, much less one on rookie contracts with franchise tag control down the line. Prior to the new negotiated locked in rookie contracts where they were getting paid amongst the highest in the league that would maybe be true. I don't know if Trubisky will be great, but even if he's good, say on or about Alex Smith/Kirk Cousins level than it would be good.

Everyone said last years qb class was weak. Trubisky, Watson, Malhomes, and Kizer all looked good. Don't know if any of them will become perennial pro bowlers but a good start pre season gm 1.

By overpaid, I referring more to the silly trade Pace made to move up one spot to Get him while SF didn't even have him on their radar. It cost the Bears several 2nd and 3rd round picks this year and next.

Yes, I know. It's impossible for the Bears GM to have overpaid if Trubiksy is a great QB. He traded 2 3s and a 4, which he got some picks back for trading back in the 2nd rd anyhow. Again, QB is the most premium position in the league.

As a life long Bears fan, since the day I first watched Brain's Song as a little tike. I have grown used to bad decisions and learned to never get excited until the game is over. At least I have my 85 Bears; most likely the best ever NFL team in history. That was only 32 years ago or so and since I figure I have 30-40 years left on earth odds are they will win 1 more Super Bowl before I die. Although with all the national anthem stuff going on in the NFL the league is quickly becoming less and less important to me.

It depends on how he turns out to say whether they over paid or not. If he turns into a great QB and the Bears turn into a perennial Super Bowl contender, then I don't think anyone will argue they over paid.

And the trade wasn't about whether he was on SF's radar, it was about whether he was on the Jets, Jags, Chargers, and several teams below who were possibly interested in trading up ahead of the Bears.
