This seems to be the latest "anti-aging" snake oil for guys getting older looking to get their edge back with OTC stuff at GNC. Is this just another wallet grab? Most of this stuff is loaded with natural stimulant herbs and B-vits, especially niacin - so you get a boost of energy to make ya think something real is going on.

Complete nonsense. Go to your doctor and get a testosterone levels test, then have him out you on TRT, problem solved.

Anybody that's had the Rx stuff care to share on their experience?

What kind of edge you looking for?

Boudoir checks 4.0; never had problems there. Strength, endurance and energy levels. Looking to run another marathon after running last one in 2014. Just trying to get up the energy to not only get through another training cycle, but do well. Losing about 25 lbs before the event is going to help too.

Just in general or for working out? I'm taking betaline and creatine before I work out to help offset the natural muscle loss you get as you get older (helps me to work out harder)

I suffered from extreme fatigue about a year and a half ago. A simple blood test revealed low testosterone levels. I've been prescribed Androgel by an endocrinologist. It's definitely helped my fatigue (unfortunately, it didn't double my bench press as I had hoped). I've got a follow up appointment tomorrow to check my T levels.

Betaine? Looks like that helps with metabolism as well. I just as strong as I was in my 20s but endurance, especially for long runs is the focus. Especially when I have to get up at 4:00, run up to 14 miles mid week, and then work all day.

I'm taking .5ml of testosterone, injected weekly. That amount isn't really going to boost your strength, but it does help with fatigue. Just make sure you get the hormonal offset if you need it. I'd get blood work done every three months, at least in the beginning.

I gotta go see my PCP and get this tested, and referred out as necessary.

I think he's referring to Beta Alanine. Research suggests it has a buffer effect on lactic acid which can delay muscular fatigue and enable you to work out longer. I don't think there is an established benefit for endurance training.

If you're looking for a natural way to get more lead in your pencil, skip the free T stuff and pickup up a bottle of L-Arginine. Werks...

I think it worked for Jimmy Johnson.
He has a longer life now, or sumpin’.

Rub on gel?
L-Arginine is an amino acid that is a precursor to nitric oxde production - it causes your blood vessels to relax and expand, thus increasing blood flow (which I think is where Cman is going with that). It's also used for heart health and as a bodybuilding supplement to get that pumped, vascular look (I take something similar called citrulline malate).

You can buy it in a pill or powder, but it's not going to address your issue.

Interested to see how this goes. Have you been taking it for a year with no follow up? Aren't there some serious side effects with this stuff? I got tested a few years ago because of the same type issues and was told I was in a normal range for my age. I wonder though because I do struggle with some fatigue issues myself. I've ramped up my exercise habits this year and that seems to be helping some...

Long story. I was initially referred to a urologist who tried an experimental treatment- tamoxifen- to see if it would jump start my test production. It worked initially, but my levels went back down and symptoms returned when I went off of it.

I was then referred to an endocrinologist who prescribed androgel. I did an initial checkup which showed a positive trend. I now have a long term checkup. Will let you know how it goes.

Have you done the injectable test?

Good luck...

No, but I got my results today. My levels are lower than the first blood test after three months. They took another sample today to confirm. Pending those results, I might be looking at other alternatives.

I am obviously not an expert, but are you also taking anastrozole with the Andro?

So without going to a doctor, what helps best with afternoon fatigue at work?

I had an abnormal PSA test during blood work ordered by my Internal medicine doc. Referred to urologist and he ordered more tests. My testosterone was lower than that of an 80 year old, I’m 48. He ruled out anything prostrate related and started me on Axiron, 4 swipes a day (its a roll on type applicator). After 6 week’s, I went back and my testosterone was over 1200. He reduced my swipes to 2 a day. I feel much better. Prior to testosterone therapy, my main complaint was chronic fatigue, which I chalked up to work. No more fatigue and the other side effect is both a bonus and a curse.

are there other side effects of these things... hair loss or hair growth in new places?

I do a testosterone injection every 2 weeks.
Pros: increased sex drive
Cons: I grew hair in places I've never had hair before (my back).
My body hair changed from brown/blonde to black.
Red blood cell count goes up...Doc has me donating blood every 3 months to counteract the side affect.
A 22 gauge needle in the arse isn't pleasant.

Normally the increased amount of testosterone will cause you body to stop making it's own, which means you may need to take a hormone to balance that out so you don't hrow man boobs.
I have had some additional hair growth, but it's worth it imo.

Man, it would have to make significant differences in multiple areas of my life before I signed up for that. I don’t think I’m there yet.
