The No. 10 Florida State men’s tennis team fell 4-3 to No. 7 Tennessee in the third round of the NCAA Men’s Tennis Championship.

The day began with the tightest doubles match of the season as Loris Pourroy and Youcef Rihane strung together three straight games to remain perfect as a pair in the championshipon Court 2. Courts 1 and 3 each went to a tiebreaker to decide the doubles point. Jamie Connel and Alex Bulte stepped up in a huge moment and delivered the 7-5 tiebreak victory to take the first point of the match. Court 1 was left unfinished at 6-6 in the tiebreaker.

Tennessee tied the match with a win on Court 2 before Bulte answered back. He found himself down 4-2 before firing off four straight games to win set one before winning the final four games in set two to restore FSU’s lead.

Joshua Dous-Karpenschif followed suit with a 6-4 first set victory before winning the final three games in set two to win his match and claim the third point. Dous-Karpenschif is spotless in singles through three rounds of tournament play.

The Seminoles dropped matches on Courts 1 and 5 before Tennessee outlasted the third-set tiebreaker on Court 4 to end the match.

Florida State finishes one of its greatest seasons in program history to date at 23-8. 23 wins ties the fourth-largest number of wins in a season and the most since 2018. The Seminoles claimed their first-ever ACC Championship with four wins in four days to become the lowest seed to ever win the competition. Antoine Cornut-Chauvinc rallied from 5-2 down in the third set and claimed one of the best moments in collegiate tennis history.

FSU hosted and was victorious in its first regional since 2018 and was unconquered against all Florida opponents with a 4-0 record, including victories over in-state rivals Florida and Miami. The Seminoles finished the season with their highest number of road wins ever with 15 victories.
