NCAA President Could be Next Casualty

I’ll say this; we’re headed in the wrong direction if we think the school should be doing the disciplining over the law. If I’m a university president, I set rules for punishment based on what happens with the law. Just like the NFL should do.

Maybe they should come forward when they hear this stuff is going on. It’s disgusting what took place and I cannot imagine how many people had an idea this was happening. None of them will apologize to avoid potential lawsuits. It’s a sad situation that should have been prevented way before 150 + girls were harmed.

they should be going to the police of they want justice. No excuses.

Amazingly bizarre issue. I was critical of the PSU drama and thought people were being thrown under the bus to appease the masses. And then the facts came out and revealed the levity of the situation. (JOE PA got his wins back???? Garbage )

Given the number of kids,(children at the time) that have come forward in this case with MSU, I hope to hell anyone within earshot of what was going on gets fried too. Yes FRIED, not fired.

Then they would be guilty of lying to police and interfering with an investigation. I’d make 1 phone call to the police and then do what they told me and stepped out of the way. But that’s not what these “organizations” want; they want universities to play investigators and deliver out punishment or the NCAA to step in. It's a messed up situation so why do we need a messed solution?

Yup. It's the logical, just, right and intelligent approach. So of course people will fight tooth and nail to bypass it.

hard to imagine a DC on the football team having any contact with kids in Olympic sports but I share your concern.

MSU's problem has extended beyond the gymnastics program. Izzo and Dantonio are under fire. There is a lot of evidence MSU swept stuff under the rug to protect the school.

I too hope our MSU hires didn't see this coming and choose to run to FSU hoping to escape accountability.....if they were involved that is.

Now there are reports Izzo and Dantonio about to resign!
Seems plausible with this meltdown do you have a link on this scuttlebutt. Seems I read he could be involved in another player related MSU cover-up but was not verified. Anyway if this happens like PSU or Baylor anyof the players could most likely be allowed to transfer out and be immediately eligible to play somewhere else. What a sad deal.after the dust settles you never know what the landscape will end up like. I just hope we're not collected in some way with our new hires.

BINGO!!! People need to wake up and that includes this forum. Nobody is asking them to instill punishment in so much as they are not even allowing these cases to be heard.

If true, Dantonio is done and so is Izzo.

Oh before anyone piles on, it's happening at many many schools and don't think for a second it we are choir boys...

Are you even reading the friggin story!? GIRLS ARE BEING GANG RAPED AND THE UNIVERSITY FAILED TO EVEN NOTIFY THE POLICE DEPARTMENT OR THEIR TITLE 9 OFFICERS. THEY HAVE A FRIGGIN MORAL AND ETHICAL RESPONSIBILITY TO NOT COVER THEM UP AND HOLD THE PLAYERS ACCOUNTABLE.

Nobody is asking them to investigate the cases, Just do anything.

If coaches or administrators had any knowledge of this and did anything to cover up or not cooperate with law enforcement they should be prosecuted for obstruction of justice. The reality of prosecution and prison will make these people stop trying to protect their kingdom and start protecting the victims.

My read of the ESPN investigation, report and summary paints a blatant picture of institutional failure. This is way bigger than the football coach; which is why the university president is already gone and lawyering up; same w/ the AD. From my uninformed perspective, it is unlikely that Emmert is going to go anywhere over this. There are so many failures of oversight among entities that should have been actively involved, that it would be impossible to make the case that he could have affected anything. e.g. the entire board of directors of the US gymnastic association resigned yesterday; the friggin entire BOD. If they didn't care enough to protect their own sport, let alone the children, who was Emmert to fix it? And I have to ask, where the hell were the parents of the 6 year old girls???? SMH. The accountability needs to begin right there. Even in the PSU saga, there were parents that had made reports and confronted the pervert. I have not heard of that in this case yet.

As for the football and BB HCs, I think they will also be forever tainted, but can plausibly lay the blame at the feet of the administration of MSU, which includes the BOT. Consider the Flint Water scandal. You had state of Michigan officials at the highest level who had sworn legal responsibilities to protect citizens from contaminated drinking water, one of the basic essentials of life, and they ignored, misrepresented, obfuscated and deflected while people died. It ain't the only one, but that state is fundamentally corrupt. In that environment, it is difficult to hold lower level administrators accountable. Any coach can very plausibly deny full knowledge of events and can easily suggest that their action were consistent with what their superiors had instructed them to do in these situations. And lest we forget, in all of the incidents involving the football players, the females ultimately refused to press charges.

Says who? She said. But when campus police investigated with the DA and they couldn’t find any evidence of her claims? These are not professional criminals as athletes or working at a university; it’s easy to just cover up all evidence and more then likely someone would have come forward almost a decade later from the guilt because large sums of cash are not being passed around at a university.

Newsflash some young women lie and blame other people for actions they willing took part in and feel very guilty about later. It’s something you’ll find at EVERY college campus.

I find very ironic that we assume that MSU has done these horrible things but we want to question and argue about when it was about FSU. I imagine that the MSU people are resigning because Nassar worked under them and they feel the embarrassment and shame of not catching it when it happened but let’s not automatically link to the basketball and football programs.

Again OTL wasn’t the most truthful on our situation.

..

Actually they are. Why do you think OTL lists all the football incidents in their article and says responded with “inaction” and “widespread denial”?

Which shows the stupidity of the press because no company is going to come and give any credibility to any incidents. They are going to say “they are properly aware of the situation and working with law enforcement to handle the situation appropriately.” No one is going to admit to the press that they did it because then they’re opening themselves to legal action by throwing people under the bus. As far as having names redacted that was the local TPD does as well to not have anyone inferring with an investigation. Maybe OTL need a class on how law enforcement operate.

The issue is that the reports suggest a culture of sexual abuse and assault permeated the whole department. Kid accused of rape, gets told to call and have a talk with his mom about it. Basically all we joke with Saban about being soft but far worse.

I’m confused. Are we talking about the rape allegations against football players or the Nassur Olympic stuff? It’s two separate things, right?

Watched the ESPN story on MSU this morning.

Was prettt intense

I wonder how long ESPN has been sitting on this piece/story, the timing with Lasser is ironic if you ask me.

A lot of the incidents took place 2, 3 and 4 years ago. ESPN sued MSU in 2014 for their records, and won. How long did they sit on that information before putting the story together etc.

Timing just seems a bit disingenuous...I could be way off though.

Anyone else get the same feeling?

I wonder if Bennett and Snyder saw this coming and were easy pickings for Taggart?
